Same girl I’m like no. THe sooner they know the sooner they can ask someone else.

I would’ve but she just wanted me to come in an hour or so earlier for her, which I was okay with, but also because I need money

Tbh talk to other baristas about whether they're generally open to picking up more hours! That way if a couple of them need hours or are at least happy to pick them up, you can contact them first, schedule permitting. And you'll know not to message any of the ones who are like "I'm really already working as many hours as I can"
With you being on the receiving end of this message, you can also clarify to them your availability so they'll know for next time whether you're a good choice to ask

When I was a supervisor I always ended or prefaced the messages with “there is no pressure, just let me know yes or no” whenever I had to look for coverage for call outs. Honestly it’s your time off, take care of yourself and just say no. No other explanation is ever needed.

I just had to send out texts asking for last minute coverage...I get it, but also...what else are we supposed to do? It kinda sucks to be on both sides. 😩

I was going through my messages and deleting stuff when I came across a thread with a girl who quit forever ago and every time she texted me it was so I could take a shift🥴 I think I counted six times in the span of like 2 weeks

this was me earlier when my SM asked if she could change one of my shifts from 10:30a-4pm to 530a-2pm 😭
