Policy for opening barista to call out? (self.starbucksbaristas)

I’ve just transferred and recently became an opener. I’m not quite sure what the policy is for calling out sick as my old store just used a group chat. My store manager and opening SSV already know I won’t be able to come in, I’m just scared that I have to call because I’ve heard text isn’t an official way of calling out. Should I call my SSV in the morning or will I be okay?

how do you know your sm and your opening ssv know? did you call them directly or text? if text, theres no way to guarantee they know.

because the opening ssv called me to check in and we have been texting. she mentioned how they got most of the shift covered and my SM is working on the rest.
