Found out when I clocked in that I am on schedule for 2 hours later than what was posted? And I get a 30. (self.starbucksbaristas)

I'm a borrowed partner today, the only schedule I saw was at the beginning of the week at my home store. Supposed to get off at 1, today I clock in and it shows I'm here til 3

Idk how to approach this but ngl I was not prepared to stay later today

do you have a picture/screenshot? can someone from your home store send you one?
show it to the shift on the floor and say “i have prior commitments that i made around the fact that i was told i’m off at 1 today. is there a specific task you would like me to have completed before 1?”
it’s unfair for the SM to expect you to just go along with it. you should also let your SM know when you get back, maybe they know what happened.

Yes I have a picture

I'm a little nervous to confront anyone over it, I don't mind to stay really, it's just a little stressful to find out last minute and have to adjust mentally and reconsider my plans for immediately after work

You really should let them know that you were only aware of the 1pm time and have prior commitments. If there was a lack of communication, it didn’t involve you and your day shouldn’t be impacted by somebody else’s miscommunication

You're right, but I feel a bit stuck now because I'm on lunch. I wanted to bring it up but idk, it's been a chill day and I don't have any major plans. More money for me, I was a little bummed about a low number of hours this week anyway.

For me the biggest issue is just the stress of the miscommunication and having to readjust (I like to know what to expect for my day), which I'm already managing decently. If I had hard commitments or appointments already, I'd say nope

Update: I'm just gonna stay, I'm feeling good and I could use a couple extra hours. I also really like the people at this store, so I don't wanna put them in a bad spot. It would be different if I had an appointment or something like that, but I don't have anything major enough going on to put them in a bad spot over a miscommunication.

I will talk to my SM about it and see what may have happened. I have been here a few months working 30-40 hours per week and this is the first time my schedule has changed without my knowledge

speaking as a SSV who works with a lot of borrowed partners and ever-changing schedules, we really appreciate partners like you!

that said, I agree with other comments that you would have been fully within your rights to say, “hey, I was originally scheduled until 1 and I wasn’t told that the schedule changed, so I do need to leave at 1” - sometimes schedule changes aren’t communicated to the playcaller either, so they may not have been aware.

I hope it turns out to be a onetime occurrence and any future schedule changes are better communicated!
