I have a question, I put my 2 weeks in and my manager sat down with me the next time I saw them to ask about the reasonings behind my 2 weeks. They tried to offer me different options and tbh, I felt like they were really fighting for me and that made me feel really appreciated.
My question, though I think the answer is yes, is this
Are managers required to “fight” for their partners to stay? Or is it really that they like me as an employee?

Manager is not required to fight but a good manager hates to lose good employees (partners). It also takes time and money to train new partner, lost of productive etc.

It's probably more that they're worried abt attrition, it costs money to get and train a new employee

Realized this sounds cold. I'm sure they did like you too, it's not super common for bosses to make offers after a letter gets put in

It’s not a requirement at all. They can absolutely take your two weeks and simply stop scheduling you and process your application, and often (if not usually) will do so. So it’s likely they genuinely want you to say. That said, it could be because of you, or due to business needs/staffing concern.

Managers aren’t required to do anything other than accept your two weeks when you put it in. Your manager must be one of the good ones if they at least offered you some options and made sure you’re okay.

Unless you are very valuable to the manager or someone of power in your store they wouldn’t try to convince you to stay. Everyone else they just shrug off a 2 week notice and look for a replacement ASAP
