Don’t y’all love it (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by coffee-and-chillll
Don’t y’all love it when a grown adult throws a temper tantrum and repeatedly curses about having to wait for their mobile ordered frap on a sunday morning

HEY maybe read the room and realize all of us here behind the counter are moving at maximum speed and everyone is ordering at once because it’s a weekend morning and we’re dealing with cafe, mobile, delivery, and drive thru orders. It’s a DRINK, and you’re an ADULT. Check yourself. If your biggest problem today is waiting on a drink consider yourself lucky dude, and learn what it means to be patient

Just to add: he repeatedly claimed how “f****** stupid this is” about the long wait, dude ya know what’s stupid?? YOUR BEHAVIOR. 5 year old children behave infinitely better than you sir. Fingers crossed you’re listening to a podcast about improving yourself in those airpods as you throw a fit about a frap

Lmao im loving everything about this. It's just too funny when you see whole grown ass adults acting way worse than any of the children to ever step foot in my store. But because he's a grown man ordering a frappuccino, I think maybe he feels like he has to act tough or something. In reality he's drawing more attention to himself and acting like a fool. You know what I love? I love whenever there's an extremely well-behaved child or multiple children in my store at the same time as a grown ass adult who's throwing a fit over a drink
coffee-and-chillll [OP] 4 points 9m ago
Honestly I think it was that and also just couldn’t deal with the long wait. It’s a Sunday morning, and it’s not my fault it’s so busy. I’m doing what I can dude, as we all are 🤷🏻‍♀️ Yessss I love that too! I always wanna give kids like that a free cake pop and commend them really loudly so maybe the adult brat will overhear and analyze their own behavior. It also just says so much about an adult when a child is behaving better than them
Responsible_Snow7109 3 points 9m ago
Yeah I can't remember through my two and a half years of any child throwing a fit over waiting for anything. I honestly can't recall any moments like that with children but I can recall plenty of moments like that with adults. It's pretty sad that these adults are acting worse than the children that come through our stores. Like you cannot go to a place of business and not expect there to be any wait time whether it be one minute or 3 minutes or 5 minutes

Does your ssv let people talk to you like that?! I call people out on their TONE to my baristas let alone actually swearing at them. Absolutely not.
coffee-and-chillll [OP] 5 points 9m ago
Sadly yes, they let people do pretty much anything including talking to us like that. The SSVs at my store don’t care AT ALL about our store or us, they’re definitely there for the paycheck and that’s about it. My SSV yesterday just laughed when I told her what happened. Unfortunately everyone else was running around and didn’t hear how he was talking to me. I felt really embarrassed and silly and like I was being ridiculed, it sucked :/

You’re awesome! I wish you were at my store or the SSVs there were more like you, the SSVs at my store couldn’t care less about doing anything beyond the bare minimum
Beg1nAga1n 2 points 9m ago
I’m so sorry. Truly. That makes me so frustrated.
coffee-and-chillll [OP] 2 points 9m ago
Me too! I used to be an SSV and I really cared, and I care as a barista. But with a team that definitely doesn’t care, I do what I can and try my best and let the rest go. Partners that don’t care at all really set a negative environment on the floor, and I definitely don’t feel supported so I’m really glad I’m not a brand new partner. I think a lot of them are burnt out and don’t address it. It’s nice to know there’s superstar SSVs like you ✨

That’s one thing I’ll never understand. You come in and your order is backed up. Lots of people are waiting. Bar baristas are clearly moving at absolute maximum capacity. Clearly it’s not their fault and way too many orders came through. A person can only
make so many drinks in a certain amount of time, no matter how skilled. I always say, if you know you’ll be in during peak, mobile order 20 minutes ahead. And if you’re in a rush, why are you cafe ordering??! The general public doesn’t get that we aren’t just doing 20 orders during peak. It’s closer to 300.
coffee-and-chillll [OP] 3 points 9m ago
Thank you for this! This is spot on, you said it all perfectly. I really don’t understand how someone can walk in, see a full lobby and know we also have a drive thru to handle, and see us all moving as fast as we can yet still have the audacity to be so rude. It’s like dude look around!! It’s busy, therefore there will be a wait, it’s not ideal for any of us trust me. If you see a busy place, it’s really no surprise there’s gonna be a wait. Yes we were backed up yesterday, but *we’re trying*, wtf else can we do? Only got 2 hands y’all!

As you said, we can only move but so fast, especially considering the many modifications most people add to their drinks. I always wanna be like “wanna grab an apron and step back here? I don’t think so, stfu” lol. It’s clearly people who have probably never worked a customer service job, and it makes me so extra thankful for those customers that are patient and understanding and know how to act.

EXACTLY!! Nearly 300 orders from 4 different ordering channels and it’s a lot. Never the amount of staff needed, and it’s rough. Customers love to have main character syndrome and walk in thinking their order is the star of the show….it’s very much not lol. Safe to say reality checks are needed.

I’ve been thinking that people may have the perception that impatience is just apart of the “culture” or something! We recently got back from a long Disneyland vacay and tried to not go to the Buxes but we did end up in there a few times. People would STILL hang out at hand off asking if every single drink was theirs. And those Disney baristas are FAST! Like, I just saw this family wait 70 minutes for a 90 second ride. Y’all can’t wait 5 minutes for a shaken espresso that will last you waaay longer than 90 seconds???

It’s like people come in and decide to be angry
coffee-and-chillll [OP] 1 points 9m ago
Yes!! They choose anger the moment they walk in or something. Idk what it is, but it’s like people think being impatient is part of the Sbux experience maybe? It’s a lot to deal with, and being yelled at about a frap when we’re so damn behind on drinks is messed up. I can only imagine what partners deal with at Disney locations, I’m sure the sense of entitlement and cranky attitudes is alive and well at those locations.

Unfortunately, I think the company has set the wrong precedent for customers so they expect their orders to be ready immediately even though they see us back there making them. They love to promote that drinks are “hand crafted”…so guess what y’all that means they won’t be ready instantly.

I really don’t understand why some people be like:

Wow—I’m running late for work/church/school—I guess I better stop for coffee/hamburgers/breakfast and shout at all the staff about how late and impatient I am.
coffee-and-chillll [OP] 3 points 9m ago
Right! Tbh I think the service industry of today has spoiled customers to the point that everyone behaves so entitled. It’s not our problem that you’re late, you chose on your own free will to stop here, I will not make your choices my problem. I’m doing the best I can, if you’re late, maybe re-evaluate your timing and choosing to stop somewhere on the way. And to see us all running around yet still having the nerve to throw a tantrum about your iced latte? Yikes please leave and re-evaluate everything lol

I can relate this guy came through drive through order venti frap. He get window I say I’m sorry we out long straws we only have short ones (we had post on drive through also) he starts cussing me out. Told me f*** shove that short straw. That I need tell my f**** boss to got to the f**** store and get some f*** that are long enough for a f***** large drink. I tried offer to remake it and put 2 grande cups. I was told f**** not same (it was cream frap so yes yes it is)
coffee-and-chillll [OP] 3 points 9m ago
I’m so sorry you experienced that :( That’s beyond inappropriate, and I commend you for getting through that. It if helps, I tell myself customers like that have some serious personal issues and are miserable so they take it out on service employees like us, and that’s their problem not ours. Like sorry y’all are miserable and feel better by berating employees? I really try to not let it get to me, easier said than done though :/
AppointmentLatter302 2 points 9m ago
I try not let me bug me because honestly I use work sams club and the customers where 100 times worse. I have full grocery carts thrown at me. Cussed out by them and the mangers. So compare that Starbucks is a paradise
coffee-and-chillll [OP] 2 points 9m ago
Full carts thrown at you?? Wtf. What is wrong with people ughhh, I’m so sorry you’ve experienced that. That is NOT okay at all. I really don’t know what to say about people’s behavior sometimes, shout out to those rare super nice and patient customers.
AppointmentLatter302 2 points 9m ago
Yes full carts, sams club had no nice customer. It was one worse experience of my life. I had like 3-4 really rude customers at Starbucks though so it improvement. But honestly I don’t know what wrong with people either. It usually grown ups too. Teenagers and people in 20s are super nice usually
