Could you ask your SM if you and the opening SSV would be allowed to make each other a drink while opening? Because yes, it is unfair and unfortunate that we are the workers who don't get to enjoy the benefit of a free drink within 30 minutes of the start of our shift. My SM was cool with this. My regular opener SSV and I are just quick about it. And I just work really hard to get my stuff done quickly to minimize the disruption of pausing to make each other's drink.

If your SM isn't down for that, I would recommend keeping caffeinated drinks at home. You could wake up early enough to prep yourself some of the coffee you mark out weekly at the store (either a pot of coffee or you could use the instant packets).


Also damn. I've never heard of bathroom breaks cutting into your 10. How does that work if you've already taken your only 10 for the day, but now you've gotta go to the bathroom bc you chugged a drink on that 10??? Makes no sense lol. I don't think it's ethical either to deprive ppl of bathroom breaks if that's what is happening. When you gotta go, you gotta go.
