When to Know if My Starbucks Insurance Has Kicked In? (General Starbucks Insurance Questions) (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by AvailableSlide7561
Hello there. So I recently just got rehired to Starbucks (after a one year break) and had some general questions about the insurance we get from working here. PS I am new to adulting and do not fully understand how the Starbucks insurance/benefits work so any information would be much appreciated.

1) Where does it tell you if your insurance has started? I feel like I have seen it somewhere online where it told me my insurance benefits did not kick in yet because I had been only working for about a month, but I can't remember where I found this. Can someone give me a link please?

2) If I needed to go to the dermatologist or dentist does my insurance from Starbucks fully cover the price? How would I know how much is covered and how much I would need to pay out of pocket?

3) Once my insurance kicks in (because I have working at Starbucks for the right amount of time for example), do I have to like activate it? Do I have to call someone to set things in motion or something? For example, if I needed to go to the dermatologist or dentist office and my Starbucks insurance kicked in what would my next step be? Do they give you like an insurance number or card I give to the dentist? Like I said Im new to all this stuff and would like to learn the proper process.

Thank you for your time.

I believe you get mail when you qualify for benefits, so they will let you know that way I’m sure.
Whatever health plan you sign up will tell you what benefits you have- typically most companies have an add on of dental and vision. Not to sure about dermatology. They typically have tiers of health plans- bronze, silver, gold. Not to sure how Starbucks does it as I haven’t signed up for insurance but I’m newly 26 and have had to read up on it. I’m sure you’ll get a hefty packet when you are benefits eligible.
And you will most likely have to call and talk to someone. You will get an insurance card, that you will provide to your medical provider when you have appointments.
You can always check mysbuxben to see what’s available.
