Should I accept this job? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by AccomplishedLaw49
Tiny bit of context, I applied to a slew of random places to get a job at the military base in my city. Mostly because most of my family works civilian jobs on the base and likes to hang out over there and I wanna be included haha.
I got a call and was offered an interview from the one and only Starbucks on the base. I know good and well (not to sound cocky) that if I do the interview I’m definitely getting hired as i have a good amount of experience and good references, and have been offered the job on the spot at every other job I interviewed for so far.

Here’s some of the red flags I found
- a lot, a lot of 1 star reviews all saying it’s the slowest Starbucks on earth and always busy
- small building as it’s inside a gas station that is always busy bc it has the best prices on base
- apparently the current staff is very rude to customers
-an apparent ex employee left a review stating the manager is allegedly discriminatory and plays favorites
-some reviews saying the staff is totally overworked
-and a review stating management is unorganized
- it is the only Starbucks on the base and one of only 2 locations you can actually get coffee there so it’ll be hella busy.

Here’s some positives I found
-a surprising amount of 5 star reviews from customers saying they all love the staff and staff is very nice
-idk small building so it wouldn’t be much to clean after a shift
- a lot of reviews said this location is always out of almost everything in the store so I wouldn’t have to bother with a decent amount of stuff
-a lot of reviews said the staff talks a lot and is friendly (and I talk entirely way too much)
-in the little interaction I’ve had with her the manager seems pretty nice and professional.
- it’s located in the gas station with the best prices so cheaper gas for me ⛽️

But the starting pay I’ve been offered is very good for the area at almost $18 an hour fresh out the gate.
Holidays are rolling around and I’ve got 2 birthdays I’m expected at next month so that almost $18 would help.

So I’m just wondering if I should sell my soul to get a green apron or keep my sanity and hold out for a different position at that base.

If it's on the military base it will be a licensed store and not corporate so just know you won't get all the benefits

Good point. Didn’t think that far haha

If you can probably work at one of the grocery or the big clothing stores, won't kill your sanity as much as starbucks does

Is it a drive thru? What are your other options for a job? I wouldn't overthink the bad reviews, as a recent transfer having looked at the reviews of the store I'm at now they don't match up with the people in the store, so don't let that deter you
