Why are other starbucks employees rude when ordering a drink at another store?(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by No_Word2668
I’ve worked for over 2 years and most of the employees who come through from other stores are rude. Ive had many that say drinks are wrong when its made by the standard. They argue with the DT person and are some of the worst people i’ve seen. Please be mindful of how you act, If you don’t enjoy rude customers don’t be one.

Look at the way we bicker in these comments and threads. Starbucks fosters a culture of "holier than thou" entitlement snitching and animosity and it comes all the way from the top, seeps even into the lowest levels causing us baristas to lash out at each other instead of having worker solidarity
I'd imagine corporate is very aware of this and it is entirely intentional, as it benefits them and not us, and makes unionization that much more unlikely.

Totally agree with this. 4 years ago when I was hired, I really felt like there was a sense of unity between the partners at my store, and we all had each other’s backs. I think it mainly had to do with being at a small cafe and tight-knit store.
Now, at a DT store, there seems to be no sense of unity as everyone is miserable and burnt out at this job and there’s definitely that “holier than thou” attitude. I now realize how good I had it at my old store. The entitlement isn’t only strong among the company’s customer base, it’s also present with partners, especially those who leave shifts without doing a damn thing to help the team. I thought I’d make friends with coworkers at this new store…lol. Luckily my last day is coming up.

We have a staff of 7 people (kiosk) There are 2 of us that bend over backwards to help everyone out. The rest won't. It's the reason why i am leaving after 7 years. Why should i give up my happiness so everyone can be happy, when they won't do the same. They would rather me work a 11hr shift by myself then come in for a little bit and work.

Oh hell no. You’re so right, I’ve noticed a select few always take on the workload, and then the red don’t help. It becomes a very unbalanced workload on an already extremely stressful and unbalanced job. I’m so glad you will no longer be sacrificing your happiness, well-being, and time for this job. It’s not worth it or justified to me, at all. Everything about this company and job feels so unbalanced, I realized I’d had enough of that and am so relieved to be leaving. Wishing you all the best 💫

My last store went from small cafe only to busy DT store and it destroyed the vibe we had going. Luckily my current has a good vibe going.

Does your current store have a DT? I think DTs kill any chance of a positive partner experience, at least in my experience. It makes everything busier, more miserable, and just complicates things so much more, and my store didn’t even have significantly more people to handle a DT. We were staffed similarly to a cafe store which just didn’t work.
The way I thought the expectations at a cafe store were unrealistic…lol it’s soooo much worse at a DT store. Never again for me

I'm a shift at my store, and it's so ridiculous, to me it feels like the day/night war that a lot of stores have. We're all doing the same tasking, brewing, routines, etc.
Day shift (usually) runs peak, makes the most money for the store. Night shift (usually) maintains and then resets the store for the next day. I've worked at four different stores so I understand this isn't the same everywhere.
Ideally we're helping each other out, because we couldn't work without the other parts of the day. The biggest issue half the time is clear cut roles and communication. Store managers need to be clear about what the expect of shifts, coach when needed and celebrate their successes. Shifts need to do the same, remember that you were a barista once and understand that they are the front line of the company (something corporate often forgets, like all the time because shareholders. Pure profits and promise of growth over humanity)
Treat each other how you'd want to be treated. We as people are more than just this company. Most important, don't be an asshole.

I’ve worked at a fair number of restaurants and there are two universals: at least one sink doesn’t work right and opening/closing hate each other lol
More seriously, team culture’s sooo important. It’s so much easier to work when everyone feels free to communicate and is willing to help each other out

Always that one hand washing sink in my experience lol. I feel like restaurants are a Lot more hostile in a different way, at least the restaurants and catering venues I've worked at can be. Tips being your primary income source changes people into something else.

My god you’re right. Literally every place I’ve ever worked that serves food has at least one non working sink. Even the brand new bux I helped open, the built-in cold bar BPR didn’t work for months.

Partners are my least favorite customers

Legit ass!! They work at starbucks, so they know how difficult it can be at times, and yet theyll still come through during rush and be like “can i get a venti iced matcha with almond milk 2 blonde shots and chai, and with vsccf blended with peppermint? Also i have partner numberssss 😁” and then complain when it takes too long. Like my instinct when ordering at another starbucks is to try being as convenient as possible. So idk why people be like that

Some idiot at a nearby store yelled at me when we ran out of heavy cream to make cold foam saying she can make it with whole milk and they do it all the time. Go to your shitty ass store then 😂 we all see those service scores soooo

Like I had a partner come by to get a grilled cheese at the window I told her we didn't have it and say how do you know u didn't check...... (I had last one marked out in the back and my sm said just give it to him) she have me an attitude like bi$% why u lie....
kaynist5 points9m ago
i had a partner force me to remake her 5 shot blonde crazy custom shaken espresso after already being at the window for 5+ minutes cus she ordered 3 mile long drinks and gave us mad attitude

Like the saying goes, “Doctors are the worst patients.” Baristas are the worst (Starbucks) customers, simply because they know how it can be made their special way and are having trouble letting someone else make it (“it’s always made wrong from how I make it.”)
besoinducafe4 points9m ago
It depends on the store. My store has a very chill vibe thank goodness but I’ve worked at many different stores as a borrowed partner and my home store seems to be a rarity 😬😬

Lol I was a store manager and got anxiety about taking a drink back in… I’m good, y’all got enough to do rather than listen to me bitch.
OliveGardenDumpster3 points9m ago
I still don’t understand why tbh. Like why tf you wanna be the same kind of customer we hate???
