Hey everyone, I just got a shift supervisor position that I am very grateful for. I have experience in Starbucks but for the target franchise and I haven’t worked there for a couple months so I’m a little rusty with the barista skills plus now I’m going to a corporate store. Can anyone give me some advice to not only help me but the team I will be with have a smooth transition.

ofc starbucks would hire a SS who hasn’t ever worked in a corporate store instead of promoting from within

id say the biggest thing to keep in mind with an ssv position, is that you are no longer doing what you are told. now that you’ll be supervising other baristas, you want to make sure that you have solid communication with your partners. don’t be afraid to ask questions to your more established ssv’s. and definitely ask your baristas every shift “Is there anything that I did today that allowed you and your partners to have a good shift?” and “Is there anything that I can do better to make you feel more comfortable on the floor”

Also, make *sure* you understand that licensed stores are not at all like corporate and that just because we did this this way at my old store, you will need to pretend you have never worked for and treat me like I'm new.
*returned partner after 10 years, what I said to my trainer.
