to get paid medical leave you need to be suffering from a documented short-term disability. So you would need a formal diagnosis and a doctor to sign paperwork attesting to the fact that you are temporarily disabled as a result of said diagnosis

YES I JUSR DID! Here r the steps
-apply for a medical leave. Keep in mind first 7 days are unpaid
- get yourself a therapist OR psychiatrist. I did therapist Bc my insurance doesn’t cover psychiatrist and im broke.
-therapist fills out packet. If you DM me I can show you exactly what it looks like filled out (mine was diagnosis of bipolar and anxiety)
-case manager reviews it and hopefully approves it and you get paid 66.6% of ur paycheck

I did this and went thru the process of getting paid during my LOA. In terms of how severe my mental health was to get this approved, I was on the brink of Swiss cheese’ing myself bc of work environment/partner issues at Sbux, I was a SSV. I had to have a documented appointment with my psychiatrist who had to fill out their paperwork and fax it to them. The person who fills out your paperwork HAS to be a licensed physician. My advice would be to make sure you work as much as you can 2 weeks leading up to your LOA, bc they base your LOA pay on just those 2 weeks. It is pretty stressful to get the paperwork and stuff done, so I would recommend your LOA be at least 3-6 weeks to make it worth it and give yourself enough time to recover from what you need to.

I took a leave of absence for substance abuse issues and did not get paid at all I even applied for temp disability too didn’t get paid. :/

You don’t get paid while on LOA. However they do use all qualifying sick time that you have so you’ll get that pay.

I’m not sure how to qualify, but I have heard of partners getting 66% pay on certain leaves but that might be for getting injured on the job.
