Would going on a short term disability LOA affect my audit?? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by inkoowoo
Barista here, Im going on a med leave this next week for about a month, but Im scared that if i do I won’t qualify for insurance this next audit. I work 30+ hours a week if that counts for anything, are leaves counted as just a gap in hours worked or since it’s for medical reasons is it an exception??

I think if you’re on LOA, they give you 20 hours a week toward your Ben hours.

I was on short term disability LOA for 3 months (gallbladder removal) and they just said I have to pay what I pay from my paycheck on the benefits website and then when you start work again it goes back to coming from your paycheck. So for me I had to pay the 140 that comes out of my paycheck to keep my benefits as I was not going to be working for over 30 days.

I worked 20-25 hour weeks last year and was out for a month on medical leave due to Covid. I lost my benefits on oct 1st because I was about 30 hours under the required amount. You should be fine if you work 30 a week I think.

Jist read something recently about working as much as possible the couple a weeks before your LoA bc those hours are what it's based off of? Jist regurgitating what I understood it to be so not totally sure of that's correct but worth looking into, picking up more hrs if possible if it is.
