You are not responsible for finding coverage. If you’re sick, it’s the manager’s job to find coverage. It sounds like someone is being petty and not wanting to do their job. Feel better.

I understand them wanting us to call more than 15 minutes ahead of time but like for some people (openers and early shifts that literally wake up, brush teeth and go to work in 15 minutes), that's not possible.

I am an opener and went in with a mild sore throat (no fever) recently because I was so worked up over the fact they would have to find coverage, the store would have to open late, etc. But guess what! I was Covid positive. I wear a mask but still. The fear that I got other people sick and the guilt of it is real. You're being responsible, you did the right thing.

Also, as sick as you sound, you weren't gonna do a good job. When I went in with that sore throat, I was fine at first because I took some cough drops and ibuprofen, but by hour 5 or 6 it was so hard to talk to partners and customers and I felt so, so bad. Totally not worth it. Your store can find a better partner to work the hours, or they can make do w/ one less person. A sick person on the floor isn't a big help as much as you can try to be.

Oh my God. If you’re sick you’re sick! Yes finding coverage would be great. Is it your job? No. When its early in the morning you cant help it if no one else is awake. Dont let a manager not wanting to do their job make you anxious.
