Hey guys so this sunday and next week im scheduled to work early morning shifts that are totally outside of my availability and i didn’t notice until now am i obligated to work the shifts? i feel bad because i just noticed and would’ve said something otherwise

You’ll likely be asked to find coverage on your own. Unfortunately Starbucks standards as far as I’ve been told by SMs and DMs “availability is a suggestion not a Gary fee “. The stores needs come first. It’s absolutely sucks. You would likely be obligated to find coverage since they’re already posted.

i feel like this can’t be accurate. i wouldn’t be surprised if that’s what you’re told but i’m a hs student who’s involved in extracurriculars so i literally can’t work outside of my availablity hours. maybe it’s because i’m a minor, but i also got scheduled outside of my new availability and my sm took it off my schedule when i informed her of it. it may be different in your district though

It is accurate. They don’t have to. They can do something easy like what they did with you. But they’re not bound to do so. What WILL happen depends on SM usually, but it’s always good to know what the standards really are imo so you know what rights you do or don’t have.
Also minors do have additional rules as well so your situation is a little different.
