Going back to starbucks.. TIPS? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Mammoth_Coast_1050
Okay so i was at my first store for about a year and a half and i loved it everyone was nice and supportive. i suffer from depression and anxiety and now borderline which is emotional dysfunction which means i feel a lot more emotion than others and distort them.

So when i was at the store i felt comfy but it was always draining after work and did not know how to wind down. I almost felt like i was burning out a lot. My last few weeks there i was having housing issues in that area and my partner broke up with me so i had to leave the city to go with my sister. I ended up transferring to another store and they were so hostile and rude. i did not feel safe or good. I had a panic attack and cried on one of my shifts and put my two weeks after a month. That was in july. I haven't worked since until this week i start in october back at the first store i went to. But now I find myself having it hard to just get groceries and stay out in public for a couple hours but i really want to go back to work. My thoughts and emotions move very fast. I am on medications now but I still spiral in my thoughts.

Does anyone have any suggestions or tips?

maybe how to wind down or anything in general.

i would appreciate anything 🤍

Maybe get back but only a couple shifts a week?

Have you considered any other jobs that may work better for you currently?

The best thing I could think of with Starbucks is the benefits that could help you get counseling and such to work through your struggles better.

Good luck!

yeah that's my goal is to go slowly! lyra therapy is a big help and without it i was going crazy lol.

i considered other jobs but i'm too scared of change but luckily my manager is being really patient and helping me move slowly. I love making coffee it's just the rushes that get to me. I'm thinking of closing or opening for slower times.

thank you for your comment!

I had an injury and was out for 6 months. I started back by doing the first couple of weeks at reduced (for me) hours before going back to a more regular schedule.

Have you read any of the posts on this sub? Working for this company is like being in an abusive relationship lmao

Honestly if i didn’t need the health coverage to cover the cost of surgery i’d have dipped a long time ago. I have a lot of emotional and mental problems and this job is honestly too much sometimes (very often unfortunately). I wasn’t trying to be rude, but this company chews through people like a meat grinder. It’s not a great place to work most of the time
