some window/pos stories (self.starbucksbaristas)

Today I was in window when a lady had pulled up who ordered a TALL ice green tea. When she pulled up, we had her drink ready and she immediately said, “can I make it a grande instead.”

me and my cold bar looked at each-other but whatever, changed to a grande and charged for it. Sticker didn’t print, so we just gave her the drink without one. She asked for it and I gave her the original sticker. She took it and said, “can I get the sticker that says grande because I want to refill it before the night is over.”

I explained to her that she couldn’t do that since, not only is she in drive thru and not in store, but she’s leaving and we only give refills if you don’t leave the store. She got mad and ask for receipt. My cold bar got mad and she said she better not come back later to ask because she’ll still be working lol.

Please share you experiences with customers, I love reading them

had a lady today come in when I was in the middle of counting the safe doing the mid safe count, I said “hey there I’ll be right with you”….she’s on her phone talking and I guess didn’t hear me but I stood up and took her order, she was still on the phone basically barking orders at me “give me this” “i don’t want this” etc. so I was like thinking “if she can’t give me basic respect i’m just gonna give her the bare minimum back” and then i go to the back to grab a marker to mark milks. i come back to the front to make sure the FOH fridges are stocked and hear the lady complaining to the bar partners about how rude I was to her and how I have an attitude problem and how she needs a manager. they told her i was the manager and she said she wants someone higher than me. I told her, “our store manager isn’t here right now but I would be happy to give you the store number to call back tomorrow, my name is _____ for when you talk to her, have a good one”.

did i handle that the best? probably not…but she was so damn rude I just didn’t care and felt good to stand up to assholes for once

You did handle it best fairly, humanly, and realistically. I hate when customers act so entitled and so disconnected to the real world as if we’re not people at the end of the day. NOT ROBOTS.

Yesterday, I took a regulars order and he ordered a tall pike place and a lemon loaf. Same cold bar partner was at warming while I was on POS. Our team are super supportive of each other and always are there for each other so when after I gave him his coffee, he seemed annoyed. I go up to him and ask him if he’s needs anything and he seemed annoyed and asked for his lemon loaf. I seen my partner at warming was backed up, so I just grabbed it for him and sent him on his way.

We ALWAYS try to rush the annoy customers because sometimes when we’re not on their time, they take it out on us. Like nobody told you to come to starbucks last minute or when it doesn’t fit into your schedule.

But the lady, geez. What she expect? For you to treat her like royalty and take her rudeness?
