Manager asking me to retrospectively apply for medical leave of absence? (self.starbucksbaristas)

I was sick with a cold, and I got a doctor’s note saying I couldn’t come in for two days. My manager accepted it, but is now asking that I apply for medical leave of absence through Sedgwick to cover for those two days.
Is this normal procedure? Is there some angle that my manager is getting at?

The policy is if you call out of 3 shifts back to back you have to, 2 you don’t. Just fyi
