Does any store make iced coffee by the book?(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by throwaway1209340987
I have only been to one store that actually does! Everyone else brews it directly into the cube and doesn’t fix the coffee-to-ice ratio. At this point I think *most* Starbucks’ iced coffee is stronger than standard!

We make it to standard at my store

What is the correct standard?

Brew into the coffee urn. Dispense only up to the appropriate amount, then toss the rest. Then ice. I can’t remember the measurements off the top of my head.

It’s 1L coffee, ice to the 2L line

Six venti scoops of ice and right in the cube babeeeeeeeeyyyyy

Yep, that’s what every store I’ve been to does. Makes for some seriously inconsistent coffee. 👎🏻

I hear you my dude, but we’ve gone through three head managers in two years and if Starbucks tries to fix one more thing I think we’ll actually die.

Making it straight into cubes doesn’t necessarily make it stronger - it can actually be weaker because of the ice not being measured appropriately

that’s not the issue, the issue is that the brewed coffee is not being measured. I believe to make iced coffee it’s supposed to yield 2L, but the brewer makes a little over 2L, but no one dumps out that extra bit. They just brew directly over ice and go, meaning there’s more coffee in there than there should be.

Both are supposed to be measured, and often times when brewed into cubes people not only do too much coffee, but ALSO too much ice (or possibly too little ice depending on the person!)
It’s overall just a VERY inconsistent brewing method, and also can change the flavors of the coffee due to the change in brewing method

Totally agree!

Ours brews it fresh then puts it in the metal container and adds 2L of ice.

(whats the metal container ?)

I assume it is the big dispenser for iced coffee. I know our DM veto'ed that so we had to get rid of that in our store.
Ceramicusedbook1 points8m ago
That! We have one for lemonade and iced coffee.

I sooo wish we could use ours. In the summer I was pushing for us to use it for water to be self serve, we had soo many people asking for water always at the HOP, most of our business is mobiles so they can't order ahead. But my SM who's now the DM won't budge, saying "Starbucks isn't self serve"

Been brewing to standard since I started working at my store last August. As far as I know, they have always been doing it.

If it’s a 9 oz bag brew it on 1/2 batch then dispense to the 1L then add ice to the 2L. I’ve not brewed the smaller bags as my store is a very high volume brewed coffee store. I hope this helps 😁

I know how to make it, I just mean that I have never seen anyone else do it correctly, and my manager actually told me to keep doing it the incorrect way. 😬
