Charging for steamed milk in oatmeal(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by BatWeary
what is the standard on this??? if there is one, that is.
i looove almond milk in my oatmeal & normally just ring it in as oatmeal -> ask me and then [short cup]-> charge 0.80 for almond or whatever (unless i’m getting a drink then i just add the almond to that)
i feel like that’s def not the correct way to ring it in & charging for a short cup of steamed milk seems wildly over priced. we have customers who order steamed milk in their oatmeal sometimes and nobody ever knows how to ring it up

any amount of milk that is more than 4 oz is supposed to be charged. less than 4 oz is free. the oatmeal confuses me but the app doesn't charge people for milk in oatmeal on mobile orders therefore i dont either at pos.

honestly idk the standard either but we do the same thing at my store! we just also hit “steamed” with the milk so that it counts for labor

Definitely don’t charge, the amount that goes in an oatmeal cup is less than 4oz. Ring it up using the “with” button under milks and the custom button “steamed”

if you’re asking for the short cup to be filled with almond milk, then yeah you should be charged for it. but when someone asks for a side of cream (steamed or not) i never charge because it’s only filled about halfway or so. guess it depends 🤷♀️

On a weekly update ( i don’t remember when) say milk in oatmeal isn’t a charge I just put it in ask me. But on the app you an actually add it. Don’t know why you can do it on the app but not in store 🤷🏻♀️
