Weekly orders? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by new_direction_
How does your store do the weekly (RDC) order? Does the same person place it? Is it your SM/ASM who places it or do SSVs handle it? Is it scheduled as noncoverage or just part of the shift? I know how my district usually does it but I’ve been told some interesting things about how it “should” be done so I’m wondering how the rest of you are taking care of it.

RDC order can be placed by any SSV/ASM/SM. We try to have the same person place it every week but it doesn’t always work with vacations. It should be scheduled as noncoverage but the amount of noncoverage changes based on the stores noncoverage budget.

Coming from a partner that has done the RDC every week for 2 years: find what works for your store. It can be an ssv or the sm but consistency is what makes it work. RDC pars don’t change as often as daily pars so if the same partner does it every week the whole thing goes faster. They can see the onhand and order appropriately without having to count everything and cross reference with the par sheet. Technically if the ssv is doing it then yes there should be an hour of coverage on the floor for them to place the order. If it’s not scheduled then I find having a barista step off and count products is easiest, that way the ssv is only off the floor for like 10 minutes to place the order.

we have 3 opening keyholders (2 ssv’s and the sm) and it rotates between them. sometimes it’s the playcaller who does it; sometimes two keyholders will be scheduled to open and the non-playcaller will do it. it’s usually scheduled as keyholder/coverage, though we do use noncoverage for putting away the RP order after it arrives.
