i was never taught this but personally i prefer my splenda shaken in haha. as long as you rinse the shaker i don’t see a problem. contamination is the same as a milk allergy or allergy to strawberries. everything in our store is cross contaminated.

looking at the sugar stuck on the side of the shaker gives me the jeebies LOL it icks me out idk why 😭

I've never heard of that. It's best to put the packet in the shaker so it dissolves when the drink is shaken.
We put tons of other allergens in the shakers (every kind of milk, for example) and Starbucks always acknowledges that cross contamination of allergens is a possibility. There's no reason to treat splenda and stevia differently.

Right!! Usually you pour shaker -> cup slowly and swirl to dissolve the sugar as you pour. I figured that was gonna be the deal since milks all share the same pitchers, but thought it was weird. I guess its just a really old thing haha

I was only ever taught that you can’t put any customer-provided ingredients into our equipment. But any Starbucks-provided ones are fine.

Not shaking sugar/Splenda used to be standard. That’s how I was originally taught. They changed it a couple of years ago along with no longer having specific blenders and milk pitchers for non-dairy options.

The refreshers already contain Rebaudioside-a, which is an artificial sweetener, so there’s not much of a reason to separate it otherwise and there’s no current standard to
I believe it used to be standard back when we also had dairy/nondairy pitchers and such

Just switch out your shaker afterwards

I was taught the exact opposite! I was told TO put the powdered sweetners into the shakers before shaking to ensure the sweetner melts into the drink.

Mmm not really because sugar free vanilla could still be added and that’s made with sucralose and allergies to those sweeteners us much more rare than to dairy or nuts

there’s a ton of allergens already on all the equipment, like just using almond milk for example lol. not like it matters at this point
