Should I transfer? (self.starbucksbaristas)

This is kind of a trenta rant, I’m sorry!!

So I’ve been a partner for about year and a half now and my manager used to tell me how, I’m one of the best closers and even when I work morning shifts or come in on my days off that she feels Relieved when I walk in. Because of this I thought I was relatively good as a barista and I’ve been asking to be a trainer for around 6-7 months. Each time I’d go to my manager she would brush me off or say “yeah that’s something we could look into” , and then never bring it up again.
Back in May we had a shift position opening and I applied, she told me she was surprised I was thinking about being a shift but that’s all she said. I came in contact with someone that had COVID, and even though I tested negative the rules at the time said I had to isolate anyways. When I got back she told me she didn’t do the interviews yet but about a week or two later one of the baristas became our new night shift. I was hurt but chalked it up to miscommunication, and trusted my managers decision.
Recently in September there was another position open for Night Shift. Me and two other baristas applied, they both got there interviews yet I never got mine. A week or two passes again and the new shift got selected. I talked to my manager and she said on three separate occasions that she would still schedule me an interview (even though the position got filled already) as it’s good practice. The most recent time I talked with her she goes on to say how she doesn’t think I’m ready for the position and that I wasn’t even a trainer and I should focus on that first. It’s been about a month, I’ve applied for a shift position twice and haven’t gotten a single interview. At this point I’ve given up on getting one.
Recently Ive gotten really discouraged and truly think I’m not good enough but I’m recently finding out I’ve had multiple shifts vouching for me to be shift to our manager for a while now. Not only that but there have been a couple times with a specific shift, who leaves on break at either inconvenient times (like when it’s hella busy and we got two people on the floor), or without even telling us and just walking out. When this happens I’ve usually been the one to step up and run the floor in his place, and because of that I’ve even had multiple baristas tell me they’ve vouched for me to our manager.
Anytime I talk to her she says I’m not a leader and I should work on coaching. I’ve coached/lead almost the entire night crew at this point but she wasn’t there to see it so it didn’t happen. Yesterday she told me about a shift position opening up at another busier store (they make $10,000 more than we do), and it really feels as though she’s setting me up for failure. If she doesn’t think I’m ready for a shift position at my current store why is she trying to send me off to a busier store, around holiday time at that! When one of my friends told her they were gonna transfer as well she got emotional and said she’d miss them and to keep her updated on their new baby and on how life is going but with me she didn’t even say she’d be upset when I leave. I feel as though she’s pushing to get rid of me and I don’t know why. I no longer like the environment at this store and the only thing really keeping me here was that friend but she’s gonna transfer anyways. I might be moving a couple hours away in 3-4 months so if I transfer now I can’t transfer when I move but this shift position would save my life financially. I’m really torn about the whole situation and i want someone else who knows Starbucks to read this and make sure I’m not crazy.

Could very well mean she is threatened by your competence. Something to think about. You are clearly great at what you do...I say stick it out until you move. If you don't move - then apply as a shift at the other store and show her how you will SUCCEED.

Exactly what I was thinking.

Applying to be a shift at another store wouldn’t count as a “transfer” from my understanding, and you should still be able to transfer in a few months without issues especially for relocation

I mean I'd go ahead and transfer anyways. Unless you know 100% for certain that you're going to move.
I'm sorry this is happening to you though it sounds shitty
