Sharp chest pain? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by fruit_enjoyer
Have you experienced this? At work I’ll get a sharp stabbing pain on the left side of my chest, and it’s aggravated by pumping thick syrups like dark caramel and pumpkin. I’m worried for when winter launch starts with the toasted white mocha and caramel brulee.

watch your pec minor and rotator cuff. they get really messed up by this job. look up remedies that suit what you're feeling, these include stretches, exercise and hot or cold treatment. talk to your doctor or a physiotherapist if this persists. i can tell you from firsthand experience, getting a Repetitive Strain Injury sucks so, so much.

Thank you! I dont know the first thing about anatomy or muscles to describe what I’m experiencing, so this is a good starting place.

I get sharp chest pain from *too much* caffeine. So also watch that…

I would watch muscle straining, rotator cuff is a huge indicator of this. Try some chest presses and some upper body weights to bulk up. (Sadly the sauces KILL you during the season)

No I feel u my arm gets tired pushing the sauce pumps it’s so hard and it hurts every time

Which hand/ arm are you using to pump syrup and sauce?
gingergal-n-dog 1 points 8m ago
How long does the pain last typically?
When did it start?
Does any thing else trigger the pain?
On a scale of 1-10, with 1 being no pain and 10 the worst pain you've ever felt, how would you rate the pain?

I don't think this is the place to ask medical questions
fruit_enjoyer [OP] 1 points 8m ago
If many people here tell me they have had a similar experience it informs me that the issue is more likely to be related to starbucks and not another area of my life. So that’s why i asked here. Do you understand?

It could be anxiety. Either way you should ask your doctor, not Reddit.

Yeah i wasnt hoping for expert medical advice i just wanted to know if other baristas commonly experienced this to figure out whether it was more likely to be a starbucks related issue or caused by something else in my life
