Was I wrongfully terminated? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by mikupills
Sorry if the formatting is weird, I’m on mobile. I just got fired over the phone because I’ve been sick for a week and my attendance was an issue I guess. On top of that my manager put me on sick leave but didn’t tell me I had to contact Sedgwick until the termination call. Not sure what to do now.

yes, you were misled. Starbucks will not restore your job unless legally threatened to do so — if it’s your best or only option to go back to Starbucks, you’ll likely need to get in contact with a labor lawyer. Your local labor board/NLRB branch will have the resources you need, including options that don’t include paying a bunch of money out of pocket to do this. They can also spring an investigation on your behalf. Even if you move on to another job, it is a good idea to report this so that it doesn’t happen to other baristas later.
