and you can tell they haven't worked on the floor a day in their lives. literally just fucked up the flow of everything then critiqued us for it. I am going insane.

Had some last week. I was gathering garbages for a garbage run after running to the bathroom. I didn’t put my apron back on and one of them pulled me aside and asked why I wasn’t in dress code. I wearing an apron earlier when we had a discussion. I told him and he just blinked at me and walked away. Where do they find these uppers at?

"excuse me why aren't you breaking health code to be in Brand Standard???"

Brain dead. The lot of them. And then they wonder why we don't respect the decisions corporate makes.

Rockstar Games...they're NPCs lol 😄

i'd be like dress code says you're not supposed to wear your apron on trash runs, or at least it did when i was hired (177)

That’s how it was for my store when my DM came. Changed all of how the floor was ran so we could barely function efficiently and said it was so much better. The whole time talking down to us and making me and all of my coworkers want to quit when I had never had that thought before. I’m sorry that happened for your store today
LaynaBird03 6 points 8m ago
My store all gets scared when our DM comes. She once tried putting cold foam on an iced caramel macchiato through a dome lid. Because she didn’t leave room for the foam to go on top

Once our old dm wanted to help on the floor during peak... He got put on ovens with a partner and still managed to fuck everything up 🙃
nicolelynnejones 69 points 8m ago
Hey, them wanting to help on the floor is pretty
cool and better than anything I’ve ever seen! Even if they’re unskilled at it, the thought seems nice
whatcakepopsdouhave 24 points 8m ago
Rude that you got downvoted. People complain DMs don't know what working the floor is like and then don't like your positivity towards them trying to experience it
ittybittybakerkitty 17 points 8m ago
Yeah it was nice but we also had to fix a lot more than we should have. I see the effort, but maybe wrong time to do it
nicolelynnejones 21 points 8m ago
Yeah during peak is a pretty ass time to be nice about that lol
JunipherStar 72 points 8m ago
It’s easy to spot the DMs and higher ups that actually worked their way up the latter vs the ones that were hired in

one of our higher ups came in last week and literally got mad at me cause I wouldn’t accept her dirty ass personal cup and told me “just rinse out what’s left in it and fill it up with water ;)” so when I said we don’t accept dirty cups she got upset and just ran to the back to fill up her own cup… lol gross

My DM has a habit of coming in during peak and pulling the shift off of the floor, or moving partners around to positions they are not ever on during peak. Like she put my shift on front and new partners on warming and DTO and our times obviously went to shit..then she’s asking why we aren’t achieving results

DM visited my store last week and made a whole plan to change how we run bar during peak, despite my fellow SSVs and many baristas explaining why we can't do it the way they want and the way we have it is what works best for our store. he didn't care 😵‍💫
Praxlyn 27 points 8m ago
I’ll never understand how some of them have masters but literally act inhuman or just downright stupid…
IcyColdBrew 16 points 8m ago
These people are after positions and degrees. Those usually don't come with common sense, humbleness and real life experience. It's replaced with arrogance and a feeling of superiority. They have no desire to be "Lifelong students", just cut throat for higher positions.

I read something about a study coming to the conclusion that while MBA programs attempt to instill community-oriented values, graduates end up with more selfish ones instead.
victorious_gem 18 points 8m ago
we had some come to my store last week && change the whole play around during morning peak, upsetting my fellow shift, who knows hoe the am is supposed to go 🙃
WAtransplant2021 17 points 8m ago
Thank goodness our DM is recent promote from SM.
PhaseSi 15 points 8m ago
FUCKIN!! Dude. We had our DM come in and chastise us for not using our position cards. “These cards should be out so partners know what they should be doing any any given time. Like, why isn’t the Bar 2 also helping the CS person with restock” dawg because we’re ducking busy w/ a full cafe. I don’t know why they all seem to get off on nitpicking us
emmerl 12 points 8m ago
Back when I was still a partner, I was in the middle of peak when we had higher ups visiting and using our conference room. One pulled me-the lead running short-staffed during peak-aside and told me I needed to step aside and call in the bathroom sinks. The water wasn’t as hot as he would like it. He wanted it done immediately. How in the hell did these people get those jobs?
the_dizzy_fool 11 points 8m ago
the manager for both my state and another state just so happens to live 5 minutes away from my store. He comes in usually 1-2 times a day and it's scary every time
TheRockWitch 10 points 8m ago
My SM was training a DM. She asked why we weren’t using this one arrangement and so my SM brought her to me and asked what I thought (seasoned partner). I explained why I thought the one we were using was better for our store.

She thought “lol ok” and changed it anyways 😭😭
-Botan 6 points 8m ago
Just punch them in the face and quit :/
the_fun_mom 3 points 8m ago
My SM stresses us out more than our DM. our Dm is wonderful and super hands on. But it might have to do with him only being into his role for only a year. He literally started as a barista! Love him!
kaefeen 1 points 8m ago
same here lol new dm came to “help” and made a celebration out of every drink they made while (was only about 3) telling customers they were getting the best drink ever!! they slowed us down by not leaving dto’s spot to help grab food, once in a while, across the room since our ovens are on the opposite side from window…..and all of this during *PEAK* 😃😃

I really do believe a part of societal decline is from corporate employees working for companies without ANY experience working down the line of the company. All of them should have had to work their way up 😢 the disconnect has disaster written all over it but this society doesn’t understand how important the connection really is.

Also takes away opportunities for people with tons of line experience who eventually want to move into the corporate sector. Line employees become much more efficient corporate employees than outside hires.
