To make this short, I asked my SM for a pay raise. I currently make around a dollar less than what I would’ve had prior to being rehired. The SM said since I left and came back that I don’t qualify for the raise everyone had this past summer. Weirdly enough I was able to negotiate my pay when I got rehired to what I had previously but given inflation and my experience, I deserve to being paid accordingly. I know the DM can approve.
Should I take this to the DM?

once you officially leave the company all of your tenure goes out the window. unfortunately it doesn't matter how long you previously worked there, once rehired you start back at ground zero. ground zero being the current $15 base pay that people are currently getting. i think the raise based on tenure only went to people hired prior to may 2022.
you can certainly try to take it to the dm and i'd encourage you to do so but honestly i doubt they'd be willing to give you a raise. starbucks is insanely stingy with raises especially now after the base pay rose

I left my store for a year and had to be put in the system as a 'new hire.' I was able to receive the $15 pay raise without any negotiations. If your SM isn't being helpful try your DM.

the 15 minimum is regardless of tenure. no negotiation required for the bare minimum.

The tenured pay raise was not given based off of experience, it was given for staying with the company throughout these hectic years. A new hire might have 5 years of experience at another coffee shop or a licensed store and still get started at the $15 base pay. Your DM might tell you the same thing.

Your dm actually can't approve. They have to take it to the prm. You should definitely email the sm and cc the dm. Have a paper trail. If that doesn't work, email your dm and cc your regional.

had the same experience. i personally think it’s bullshit. i understand that it’s “continuous” but like they literally didnt have to train me… idk i guess i shouldnt have expected starbucks to value experience but yeah i was super disappointed. you can try your DM but mine said no
