Yeah not true, once you start training you are a partner and you’re entitled to tips just like anyone else

Haha same! They did that at my store when I worked at Starbucks 10 years ago - no tips if you were training. I just rejoined and my first day is tomorrow. I guess I'll see how it works this time at the new store!

As far as I know they changed this policy recently. It used to be that your training hours didn’t get included on the tip sheet

when my boyfriend still worked at starbucks, he was basically their cs bitch for 8 months. he never had bar time, he was always cs. they never told him about tips and he didn’t get tips until after those 8 months. and needless to say, there were NOT 8 months of tips in his envelope. i never knew what happened to that money and i don’t know how he would ever get it back now that he’s not with the company.

My old store practiced the “no tips for trainees” thing but I never questioned it because I thought it was the same for every store. I transferred to a new store and now do the tips and trainees always get tips so I’m not sure where the confusion on the policy came from.

I do tips every week. If you’re working (doesn’t matter if you’re in training, or the trainer) you are on the sheet that’s printed off with the total hours for the week at your store. Borrowed partners are on this as well. You should be getting tips if you worked

I was told recently they were talking about changing it up that training hours don't get tips, cause while training you are not actively contributing to the customer experience 🤷🏻♀️
