Green Bean (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by PurpleElephant219
I’ve been in training for about a week now, and I think I’m a pretty fast learner. But I’m getting confused with a lot of the recipes. Can anyone provide me a guide book of some sort to remember how much is needed in the 4 different cup sizes? (ie. amount of shots, syrup pumps and what syrup goes in what drink, etc) Not asking for recipes just a code to remember how much to put in one drink

I send this to every green bean I train, I have an infographic of it somewhere (if I can find it I'll dm it to you)

shots for lattes:

hot: short/1 tall/1 grande/2 venti/2

iced: tall/1 grande/2 venti/3

americanos, shaken espressos, and flat whites get an extra espresso shot (and flat whites are made with ristretto shots)

syrup pumps:

hot: short/2 tall/3 grande/4 venti/5

iced: tall/3 grande/4 venti/6 trenta/7

macchiatos get one less pump of syrup, cold brews and shaken espressos get half pumps

edit: venti hot americanos get four shots and short americanos only get one, for exceptions here (as pointed out to me by another user)

the vulcan "live long and prosper" hand sign from star trek. $1

just hold up your left hand facing away from you, so you see the back of your hand.

do the hand sign.

the two fingers, two fingers, then the thumb.

The pinky and ring finger are together, the pinky is short, the ring finger is tall. They both have ONE shot each.

middle is grande, pointer is hot venti - they are both TWO shots each.

the thumb is iced venti, it's three shots.

so when you look down at your hand you can count up the shots ONE, TWO, THREE.

NOW SYRUPS.

the chant two, four, six, eight - who do we appreciate?

Think of it as TWO, FOUR - TWO, FOUR who do we appreciate? GRANDE, GRANDE YAY GRANDE! that has TWO shots of espresso and FOUR pumps of syrup. Grande is easy to remember, it's the middle finger -for F-U I remember grande.

all syrup can be counted UP and DOWN from that point. So pop up your "live long and prosper" hand sign.

Middle finger is grande. That's TWO/FOUR move up one, that's five pumps in the venti. Move up again for six pumps in the iced venti.
move down one and that's three for the tall. and down again is two for short.

now you can hold up the hand sign and count up the fingers for shots, and start at four pumps on your middle finger and count up/down the syrups on your fingers.

you're the one trying to do their best, so, thank you.

I am totally going to implement this for my next green bean!
SmittyComic 1 points 8m ago
it's been a life saver when training people get on bar. that way they don't doubt themselves as much on basics and are able to move forward with their learning.

thank you.

also, learn on the clock! don’t spend too much of your own time fretting about recipes, because you should be paid for your labor (and your learning!)
