Picking up / giving shifts to other store partners? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Ok-Description4413
I’m a green bean (about two months now) and I remember before I was hired, another barista told me that they can put their shifts offered to other stores and can pick up extra hours at other stores. This was great for me because my last job, I had a hard time getting time off even when I gave my manager ample notice.

Well I just had to work a shift on 2 hours of sleep because no one would cover me or switch with me for a later one. I’ve looked everywhere on the app and have not seen where I can post to other near by stores. I’ve also never seen a different store partner at my store. Is this something that my manager doesn’t allow and that’s why it’s not available on the app?

Also all of my shifts are scheduled under “coverage” so would that be why?

You have to speak with your manager in order to pick up/give up shifts to other stores in your district.

You have to be a borrowed partner to other stores to offer your shifts there, and icoverage means youre working on the floor (so not doing any training)

Coverage means you're covering the floor aka, you're a barista. You only other options are key (shift in charge), noncoverage (clean play), and training. There's also administration which is almost always the SM.
The DCR has a key of the shifts right under the box that has all the breaks and everything on it.

It’s weird because she’s put me on as “coverage, noncoverage” before but I didn’t do clean play? I’ve never done it so that’s confusing

Sorry, I wasn't clear, that was just an example. Noncoverage, covers anything that's not working the floor, did you put away the order or do tips? Those count as noncoverage. I've had a shift mislabeled once and the entire 8 hrs was marked noncoverage, it was all coverage. lol

Yeah I’ve only ever done coverage before or training before. Not sure why it has noncoverage on there but 💁🏻‍♀️💁🏻‍♀️ smile and nod
