Roaches (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by fluidrienne17
Does anyone else’s store have live roaches literally everywhere in their store? We’ve seen roaches in our espresso machines and just about every place possible but our manager doesn’t do anything about it no matter how many employee or customer complaints he gets😭

um…contact your dm or the health department. no, that’s not normal. pls don’t be passive about it
claretamazon 33 points 8m ago
You can make a report to the health department anonymously, BTW.
Atzo02 1 points 8m ago
And then end up getting fired? Lol ur SM will always find out who it is who told the health department. DM is first call who tells the SM. Nothing is anon in the workplace
claretamazon 3 points 8m ago
I have reported things anonymously and the department doesn't even take the name for the report.
Ristrettooo 64 points 8m ago
My god no, that’s not normal or in any way ok. Call your DM. Call your local health department. Take photos. Ask your coworkers to do the same.
aee78 57 points 8m ago
Absolutely not. If we see ants, we put in a ticket for pest control. I can't imagine roaches coming out of the espresso machine. And customers see and complain???? Sweet Jesus, how has your sm not been fired? Video to the health department. You need to be shut down.

Mmmm bug bean water
bluemallard7 20 points 8m ago
no roaches but instead a severe fly and gnat problem that pest control can’t do anything about
Ajskdjurj 7 points 8m ago
Have them bug bombed your store?. Two stores in my district got shut down my the HD and had to be bombed.
xthefabledfox 7 points 8m ago
We have a huge gnat problem as well. We got inspected by the health department (pretty sure someone called them) and lady literally said “you guys got a few gnats, just call pest control.” Like PLEASE we have been calling them 😭 I was hoping if we got shut down at least we could finally get some help
aee78 1 points 8m ago
Do you have bananas in the store? We were mopping the floors and drains down with bleach water every night and couldn't get rid of them until we got rid of bananas.
Also have all the silicone seals checked, once had them breading in a cracked one. Got everything resealed and they were gone.

Holy shit call your DM or PCC or the health department. Y’all shouldn’t be open at all until the bugs are taken care of.
banana_fana_1234 10 points 8m ago
New fear unlocked 😬 please God don’t let this be happening more often that not. As others have suggested, please call this into your DM.

Signed,
Faithful Starbucks Customer

lol have a shift make a ticket on ipad and call pcc to escalate the ticket to priority one
wooohooohoooe 3 points 8m ago
In my experience when you have a bug problem they only spray outside. I would do an anonymous complaint. Dm might be comfy w store manager.
Ellectre 5 points 8m ago
the only roaches i’ve ever heard of being in our store are coffee beans that custies mistake as bugs 😭
neighborhoodswamphag 3 points 8m ago
👁👄👁
so the ssvs haven’t put in a ticket for pest control to come? They don’t need the sim permission to do that. That should’ve been taken care of. Contact your DM. The last thing you want is for a customer to report it.
pettingneos 3 points 8m ago
sooo mastrenas are bug paradise, warm and wet jungles for them to crawl up in. our store heard a story about another one (the roaches were being ground and pulled into shots 🤮) so we started storing our beans in cubes overnight. we empty and wipe down everything just out of an abundance of caution.
nanobyte55 2 points 8m ago
Literally just standard😂
ksdg1214 1 points 8m ago
Wait. We only do that once a week.
nanobyte55 1 points 8m ago
May be different in the states... but in Canada, I was instructed by the facilities manager to emptythe hoppers every evening, wiping them with a dry cloth, leaving the beans out overnight. Weekly cleaning is putting hoppers in the sink and vacuuming.
arcanalalune 1 points 8m ago
Is it not standard to do that? Both stores I worked at stored the beans in cubes and wipes down the hoppers at night. I am so disgusted that there's stores with roach espresso 😭😭😭😭
pettingneos 1 points 8m ago
it totally might be the standard. im not a closer so im not up to date on closing standards. i can check later
new_direction_ 3 points 8m ago
No???? We get fruit flies every couple of months and the occasional housefly in the summer.
Traditional-Emu-1403 3 points 8m ago
No… but where is this so I don’t go there when I’m around 😂
fluidrienne17 [OP] 1 points 8m ago
Penn Square Mall in OKC😭
morningchampagne 3 points 8m ago
The mall I worked at had roaches. There were not too many in the store thou, much better food sources in the food court so they kinda left us alone. The store did have 2 pest companies coming to help get rid of them. You gotta call someone because that sounds horrible
Jesslynnlove 3 points 8m ago
dude what? Stores are suppose to have routine spray for pests, no?
Consistent_Count_942 2 points 8m ago
I can recall at least 4 occasions where we have found roaches in my store within the past year. It's an ongoing problem that I feel like isn't being taken seriously.
ksdg1214 1 points 8m ago
Yes. They fumigate and it does nothing.
AJ228842 1 points 8m ago
Report your store the the health department. That’s disgusting and not okay
