Advice for going into a store I used to work at? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by smilekit
Over the summer I worked as a barista, but I had to stop when the uni term started. I really miss my coworkers, a couple of them told me to come back and say hi. I have pretty bad social anxiety though and I still haven’t gone back even though I really want to. Does anyone have any advice for how to make it less awkward or how to be less weird and make myself go in? I really appreciate it, thank you.

We have lots of former partners come in and order a drink. Everyone always says hi and asks what they are up too.

Like going back as a customer? Just go! They told you to come say hi and you want to go back. It’s not like you quit in a messy dramatic way, your studies came first. A very reasonable and understandable thing to quit over. No one is gonna be upset with you over that and if by some odd chance someone is, that’s definitely a them problem and not something you should feel badly about.

I brought pizza once so at least they were happy for the pizza lolol. Didn't work as well as I expected it to tbh.

Oh no haha, what happened if you don’t mind me asking

I told *one* coworker ahead of time that I'd be bringing pizza, and that coworker hopped out of their shift real fast like ten min before I showed up lmao (I don't necessarily think intentional- just forgot I was showing up + rough shift). Besides that iirc it kind of happened to be a lot of the newer crew that I didn't know as well. I did end up meeting up with another previous coworker who no longer worked at the bux who swung by to visit me while I hung out in the lobby though.
