can i have my nails painted, but wear gloves? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by sunshinesugar754
long story short, I dyed my hair dark blue today and stained my hands. For the most part, I got all the stain off my hands, but my nails look \*absolutely awful\* and are still dyed. It probably will be for like this for 2 weeks.

in order to look normal for the most part, I would like to paint my nails so it isn't as noticeable, however, I know that's against code, so I was wondering if I could wear gloves during the entirety of my shift, is that allowed?

With how frequently you should be washing your hands, it likely won’t stay for 2wks. You can certainly wear gloves if you follow proper protocol (changing frequently and washing before putting on new ones) but I’d try using acetone on a rag to scrub your hands. It will remove most if not all of the staining.

Edit: i just reread and see it came mostly off your hands but I’d try acetone anyways, it will probably help. Next time use gloves.. 20 years of coloring my hair and it’s always worth the 99 cents at the beauty supply.

Literally been doing this all day, I went through an entire bottle of nail polish remover. My nails are stained. Hands are raw and dry now.

I also only work 2 shifts a week (4hrs each) so it most likely will stay

Well, I’d slap some unscented lotion on and leave em be for now. Just go with gloves for your next couple shifts if it really bugs you, like someone else said it’s against sbux rules and health code so do not paint your nails. People probably won’t notice the staining as much as you do.
