what do you guys do when someone asks for an iced cappuccino 😭(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by -cloudys
interyx405 points8m ago
"We no longer offer that. Can I get you an iced latte? I can add cold foam if you like."
jeanies967 points8m ago
Literally this
Putrid-Ad-88421 points8m ago
They took away the button for the nonfat cold foam that we used to put on iced cappuccinos. Do you suggest vanilla sweet cream cold foam?
gymnamind13 points8m ago
I just charge them for vsccf but make nonfat
interyx7 points8m ago
Either one. If they want regular I'll hit Ask Me and explain how to make it.
SnoopyCactus983119 points8m ago
“Unfortunately we don’t do iced cappuccinos”
-cloudys [OP]35 points8m ago
bruh and then they say “but i ask for this all the time at other starbucks “
AJ22884230 points8m ago
Just tell them it’s not a menu item and if they are making something off the menu we need a recipe for it or they can return to that location.
rwwhys11 points8m ago
My reply to “ but I get this all the time at other starbucks “ is ok unfortunately we haven’t been trained in that. But what I wish I could say is ok go there then
crazycocopuf4 points8m ago
My manager says an iced cappuccino is milk of their choice (i guess dairy only) and blend on 3 in the cold foam blender. I don’t know- I’ve only seen an iced cappuccino ticket like twice in a year.
Lady0ftheloch110 points8m ago
I don’t know how often this happens stateside, but a lot of the customers here that ask this question want something akin to a Tim Horton’s iced capp (I’m in Canada, Tim’s iced capp is basically just a coffee frap). So I just clarify by asking if they want it the way Tim’s sells, or if they want a frothy iced espresso drink with milk/iced latte with cold foam. That usually solves the confusion
Raging_raven1731 points8m ago
I’m in metro detroit so I get this a lot, usually I ask “a frozen drink? Or like a latte with regular cold foam on it”
AshMoony10 points8m ago
We get this periodically! I have a Timmy’s right down the road from my sbux so after a few (new) customers asked about it we caught on. They all wanted frozen coffees (usually a mocha frap) 🤷♀️
Fit-Nefariousness4124 points8m ago
Yea me too! When I worked in metro detroit everyone wanted it frozen. I had someone ask “what else would it be?”
urlessies2 points8m ago
same here!! 😭
ItzBoogieMan3 points8m ago
I do exactly the same thing. Cheers!
Also sometimes in a rare occasion they just want cold foam? And it’s served as an iced cap? I get those once in while
Ristrettooo96 points8m ago
Some people who order that are used to an iced cappuccino at other stores that’s basically just an iced latte. Others are trying to get the iced cappuccino that we used to have, which was basically an iced latte with cold foam made from regular milk, not sweet cream. I usually try to clarify what kind of drink they’re looking for and then ring it in appropriately.
esaeklsg52 points8m ago
Once upon a time before cold foam, Starbucks directions were actually steamed hot foam scooped on top of an iced latte. Weird af.
mgilliam19855 points8m ago
I had a customer at one of my stores order this daily. I made myself one and I had no idea why she liked it so much.
papaya46573 points8m ago
Omg I was reading comments trying to find this! I was wondering if I was remembering wrong. So odd!
jah_nuthin30 points8m ago
Isn’t the cold foam made with non-fat milk?
ArborealGayzer35 points8m ago
The standard for the old cold foam cappuccinos (circa 2018-19) was: shots (1,2,3), pour 2% to the second line, ice to the third line, Dry Cold Foam [2% milk 100ml, 150ml, 200ml; blended on 4]. Highly recommend trying this one out if you’ve never had this foam before.
RaptorClaw2729 points8m ago
Cold foam caps were actually nonfat by standard. Weird and disgusting.
Binx_da_gay_cat12 points8m ago
And vanilla, yes.
Faustamort-16 points8m ago
Regular cold foam is now just non-fat, no sugar. Sweet cream cold foam (the one everyone gets) is vanilla sweet cream, which is made with, I think, 18% milk and lots of vanilla.
OneRoseDark25 points8m ago
regular cold foam has been discontinued and is no longer a menu option.
what the hell is 18% milk?
darkwolf52373 points8m ago
Espresso, cold milk to the second line, ice to the third line and regular cold form(non fat + vanilla)
JunipherStar12 points8m ago
That’s how I make them too
darkwolf5236 points8m ago
As it should be. Since the HOT espresso would melt the ice before you can put ice and the foam in. Mhmm water down coffee.
pastabreadpasta3 points8m ago
Blended on the 4 button makes the perfect iced cappuccino cold foam
ruin_2440 points8m ago
It's discontinued but the official recipe was, for a grande: 2 shots espresso, Milk to the bottom line, Ice to the middle line. In a cold foam pitcher, froth 300ml of nonfat milk on 4, and then fill the cup to the top.
sukittrebek61630 points8m ago
Espresso, cold milk, cold foam.
sugarhiccccup11 points8m ago
It’s nonfat cold foam w 2 pumps vanilla, right?
zattydaddy5 points8m ago
It used to be the nonfat foam but I don’t think we offer that anymore
KJ2998SJ9 points8m ago
We still offer that foam. In the update where they said they were removing the buttons for it, it was clarified that we can still offer it when people order it in store, it was just removed to lessen the confusion in app ordering.
-cloudys [OP]6 points8m ago
iced late w cf?
sukittrebek6169 points8m ago
Less milk more foam, but yeah.
xiew4 points8m ago
Espresso, milk to middle line, ice to top line, t/g/v 50/100/150 ml of milk in foam blender.
gabby2468122 points8m ago
Ain’t on the menu anymore so depends on if I like them lol
insideprocessing9 points8m ago
“I will make whatever u want I live to pls you mommy”
molwalk9 points8m ago
As a UK barista - what the actual fuck is an iced cappuccino
maxwasfounddead8 points8m ago
we do iced cappuccinos in my UK store as skimmed milk foamed, ice and espresso over the top!!
JJ_Pause2 points8m ago
This is correct for the iced cold foam cappuccino in the UK. Though I was taught ice first, then cold foam tapped to get out bubbles, pour espresso shots over the top through the foam. Only made about 10 during my year there
maxwasfounddead2 points8m ago
yessss we were taught it like that too!! haha whenever anyone orders an iced cappuccino it just sends me over the edge
Hungry-Hat-21951 points8m ago
This what we do in aus too!
Atzo021 points8m ago
As a fellow UK barista I struggle so much with iced cappuccinos I have to ask the other barista for help…
darkwolf5231 points8m ago
Basically an iced latte but with less milk and cold foam
Lumpy-Ad-31707 points8m ago
Foam 2%. just clarify and be as thorough as possible. “Technically starbucks stopped offering it on its menu, but we can still make that for you if you’d like.”It’s silly that people make a big fuss when it’s very simple. I even offer the option of hot or ice for caps and a lot of guests at my store liked it. Helps boost guest connection at my store too.
Comatose_Insomniac6 points8m ago
*Deep inhale*
No.
2319Mine6 points8m ago
The standard when cold foam first came out for cappuccinos was ice, shots, milk to the top line cold foam. And it was made with nonfat milk
Forsaken_Highlight_75 points8m ago
There was a time when it got hot foam on it
WinkingCats2 points8m ago
I was wondering when someone would say that!
Stressed-somewhere5 points8m ago
When they say, “what do you mean how I want it???? I want the regular iced cappuccino!! 😡”
devin3695 points8m ago
Its crazy seeing this as my SM was actually just YELLED at for telling a customer that it goes against our standard to ring it in as a cappuccino and write in iced. Our partners were giving this guy 4 ounces of milk and an extra shot for free😭
KJ2998SJ4 points8m ago
I say sure thing and then make it how the recipe used to be. Basically in iced latte, with light milk and lots of plain cold foam.
I also warn them that it's not what Tim's Ice Capp is so that they aren't expecting a blended drink.
bigfoots-rightnipple4 points8m ago
We don’t have regular cold foam any more tho right? Like we can’t sell it. The registers don’t have a button for it. I just explain to the customer that we don’t make those anymore and I can do an iced latte with vanilla cold foam and that’s the closest we can do. They either take it or leave it idc.
KJ2998SJ4 points8m ago
We can still sell the regular cold foam. I don't understand who to ring it in because I haven't had to yet, but in the update where they removed the button, they said in the weekly update that you can still offer the cold foam.
crispycokecan0 points8m ago
You wouldn’t need to charge for the cold foam. The iced cappuccino is the foam, just like the hot drink has foam.
yaaasqueenie1 points8m ago
But you also can't make a cappuccino iced on the POS. I can speak on that for my district. So you would have to charge as an iced latte with extra cold foam
aeb010 points8m ago
we can’t ring up cold foam anymore tho, do we just put it in the ask me?
yaaasqueenie1 points8m ago
Our cold foam button has magically reappeared haha.. not sure when or why
darkwolf523-6 points8m ago
^this. Some barista don’t understand that iced cappuccino doesn’t need the cold foam to be ringed up.
kimememememe3 points8m ago
…make them a cold foam cappuccino? I work at a licensed store and that’s literally a drink in our point of sale system, does corporate not do that???
Bhaisaab862 points8m ago
Corporate removed the buttons from our pos, and told us to recommend iced lattes + cold foam. Because they want the extra money from the up charge.
Bhaisaab861 points8m ago
They also removed the regular cold foam buttons in order to “limit confusion”. But now, I can’t tell you how many customers return their drinks because they asked for cold foam and got sweet cream cold foam instead.
darklunax3 points8m ago
add ice, water, soap, and shake it all up
Drahgonfly1 points8m ago
Soap?
darklunax4 points8m ago
they want it foamy right?
Drahgonfly1 points8m ago
Disgusting attitude.
honourarycanadian3 points8m ago
Make an iced cappuccino…
Realistically I say that it’s no longer a menu item, but I can do an iced latte with less milk and some cold foam.
aznflamingo3 points8m ago
Sometimes I ask for an iced cap at coffee shops that aren’t Starbucks because it’s closer to the milk/espresso ratio that I like. Lattes have way too much milk for my liking. Now at Starbucks I get an iced doppio with a splash of milk, not because I’m a cheapskate, it’s because I get the ratio I’m looking for.
defendtrevornoah2 points8m ago
Iced latte w/ nonfat foam.
Madclaire0222 points8m ago
Asked my sm about this the other day. He said to say the following; "The closest thing we can do is for an iced latte with cold foam on top. Would you like us to do that?". Or, "We unfortunately no longer do iced cappuccinos as to simplify our menu. However we can do an iced latte with cold foam if you'd like". If they're looking for non-dairy cold foam, you can always just put the non-dairy in the cold foam blender and blend it. And I personally think this is the best thing as to not confused our new partners. Because honestly I didn't know the best way to make the Iced Capp. If they want a milk alternative, do you replace the nonfat with the non-dairy? Do you make it with 2% and do nonfat milk? It's just confusing. So I think it's best to do this
Enkeria922 points8m ago
I hardly ever made one at my time at SBUX, but at Dunkin we make an iced latte and then blend it in our Island Oasis machine.
YorkTownBratty2 points8m ago
I make one but charge them for a latte😬 They're my favorite thing to make so I honestly don't care if we don't offer that anymore.
udderlymoovelous2 points8m ago
I just ring it up as an iced latte with cold foam
Traditional-Emu-14032 points8m ago
My coworker handed one of the iced cappuccino people a shaken espresso after their rage over being handed an iced latte “was that so hard?!” 🙄
ay_dijay2 points8m ago
Idk how to insert pictures on here but im on partner hub rn and its 2% to middle line, 2% foam (NO vanilla) blend on 4 and ice to upper line with a nitro lid.
mostintuitively2 points8m ago
I make then an iced cappuccino…
Joranaxis2 points8m ago
Usually knock my head against the counter trying to remember the old cd foam cap recipe 🥲🥲
Vincent_Cromwell272 points8m ago
Make an iced cappuccino according to the 2019 recipe.
ilymttbltt2 points8m ago
We usually say that we no longer offer that drink but if they’re persistent, we give them an iced latte (up to the second line) with extra cold foam (nonfat)
Ajskdjurj2 points8m ago
I make a iced latte with cold foam. At my store we just ring up a hot cappuccino and in ask me put iced
Midieval2 points8m ago
I always recommend a coffee frappuccino, cus here in Canada they are thinking of Tim's iced cappuccinos and they have the same texture + similar flavour
francescugh2 points8m ago
iced latte add cf minus the vanilla, there’s a lot of menu items i miss and if i had the capacity to make it i probably would. so why not just make it for them? ƪ(˘⌣˘)ʃ
nightimevil2 points8m ago
I don't remember the recipe, but SR has a recipe for it so yeah, technically we can make one.
durqandat2 points8m ago
Make one
WorldlySundae74901 points8m ago
I mean... idk I was told ring it up as an iced espresso with nonfat (ask me: blend milk on 4) cuz thats how you make an iced cappuccino (allegedly, my training was questionable). There aren't enough people that order it to make a big difference on how you ring it up tbh. Just ask what kind of ratio milk to foam they want and ring it up however feels right
atticpanic1 points8m ago
it's just an iced latte with nonfat cold foam. let them know it's no longer a menu item though.
jakhei1 points8m ago
ring up an iced latte w nonfat cold foam 👍🏽
Accomplished_Cow_1161 points8m ago
Make a regular cappuccino, pour over ice, shake, serve? I honestly don’t know.
Formal-Ad28631 points8m ago
i will shake the drink (like a shaken espresso but milk first so no melting) and however many bubbles you get with that is a done deal 🤷♀️
Starbucks_IVF_MAMA1 points8m ago
My shift makes us make them and acts annoyed when people don't know how to make it
nickintheback081 points8m ago
Dating myself here, but the iced cappuccino was a menu item before cold foam was a thing
nickintheback081 points8m ago
Make one
[deleted]1 points8m ago
[removed]
littleorphananney1 points8m ago
I had one regular who orders it every day so bc she’s there every day (don’t downvote me to hell since it’s not standard) we put it as a cappuccino and type in iced in the ask me.
cassidyfr1 points8m ago
laugh
MakkawiGirl1 points8m ago
I make it for them cause I have been with the company for awhile and been trained on making it (quit and than came back) and I explain to them depending on the store they may not make it as the new baristas haven’t been trained on it, since it’s no longer something we sell
Usually they r pretty understanding!
I am a 27***** btw
saratcr1 points8m ago
we were told to do shots, foam made with 2% to the top black line and ice 😀
Audreyy1171 points8m ago
A store I worked at over the summer would have us make it for a regular because it was easier than fighting with him. We would do shots, ice, 2% cold foam
Ok_Investigator43141 points8m ago
“are you stupid?”
LetterheadFun25251 points8m ago
You Can Find The Discontinued Recipe Card On The iPad In The Store Resources Tab
bat_meister031 points8m ago
I work at Target and we can still ring up iced cappuccinos! They aren’t asked for very often but at least we have the option.
fruit_enjoyer1 points8m ago
“Okay cash or card”
Johannalee1431 points8m ago
2% in a blender
Deadrax5021 points8m ago
I just tell them it doesn’t exist and why it doesn’t
malletgirl911 points8m ago
Cry
icanseeyourenuts1 points8m ago
Just “say yes” policy: shrug 🤷🏻♂️ “absolutely! I’ll make that for you” and make it for them…then wait for the look of disappointment. When they realize that they paid $4 for a cup of foam and two shots of espresso, and a tiny bit of steamed milk to melt that ice.
HypnoticPeaches1 points8m ago
Tbh I’d recommend a shaken espresso over a latte for these folks. Comparing to the DD iced cappuccino, which they just whiz for a few seconds in the blender. It breaks up the ice a little bit but mostly is meant to froth it. Maybe a latte shaken so that the milk is shaken in?
Detantevandaisy1 points8m ago
Europe represent: iced cappuccinos are 150 ml non fat milk on 4, then put icecubes in pitcher with 2-3-4 pumps of simple, 2 shots poured in the pitcher, ice till second line, put cold foam, then pour shots on top.
It’s nasty.
AshKB56611 points8m ago
Espresso, ice, cold foam to the top.
softheartelectricsol1 points8m ago
so we have a regular that gets an iced cappuccino, and what we do for her specifically is pull the shots and froth nonfat milk (blend on 1) and pour it over the shots and light ice. she’s been a regular for several years now so this is just what all of us do - it’s what she expects and what we make for her. not saying this is standard bc idk what standard is
[deleted]1 points8m ago

ItzNotNick11 points8m ago
Get someone else to deal with that shit
forevermoonshine1 points8m ago
I make the old recipe with the cold foam unless they want steamed milk over ice but they usually don’t
Potential_External671 points8m ago
Its just espresso and cold foam over ice. We have the button on our registers still, so I do it 🤷♀️
dabsncats1 points8m ago
ok don’t come 4 me😭 but i started suggesting shots over extra ice with cold foam (i charge for vscf but let the barista know it’s 2%) and a tiny splash of milk on top to make it all blend together like the old iced cap. ringing up an iced latte with cold foam makes the drink like $9 and the original iced cap was not that much milk, just enough for the cold foam and then a tiny splash on top. i just clarify with them first because if they do want more milk, then it’s just an iced latte with cold foam.
lilmissambersue1 points8m ago
I do however many shots they want, ice, milk and then nonfat cold foam on top!
daceyface1 points8m ago
i think it’s basically an iced latte with extra nonfat cold foam, at least that’s what i’ve heard
OkFunny97741 points8m ago
I make an iced latte with 2% foam I just hit the cappuccino button and do an ask me and put iced
Better_Dust_23641 points8m ago
The other day I did shots added ice and steamed the milk as if it was a cap and then scooped the foam onto the top of the drink because that’s how it looked online when I googled iced cappuccino 💀😂 glad I know I was very wrong. She drank it tho
goblinvodka1 points8m ago
We have a regular who still orders this, how I was instructed to make it was to steam the milk, espresso + cold milk + ice in the cup and then scoop the milk foam on top of the ice
vegan-trash1 points8m ago
I get confused because we had the standard for a while to make it with 2% or NF cold foam but before it was to actually steam milk and idk what the standard is at this point
Dsgrcfl1 points8m ago
“Unfortunately that’s not one of the drinks we offer. If you have a recipe we can make it.”
baebaebluebird1 points8m ago
I make an ice latte but steam milk and scoop the foam on top
Independent-Peak-6915 points8m ago
This is exactly how we were trained to make it years ago, before foaming pitchers existed
mostintuitively1 points8m ago
Yeah I do recall. Recipes change. The standard changed about 4.5 years ago.
nickintheback081 points8m ago
This is the correct answer
Number1Barooista1 points8m ago
That's a joke right?
interyx10 points8m ago
That's how we used to do it, we did it for years and years. We don't offer it anymore.
darkwolf5230 points8m ago
Incorrect. It’s with the cold foam pitcher
bigmacqween2 points8m ago
No
darkwolf5231 points8m ago
It is. It was in/still is in the recipe book on the iPad
darkwolf5231 points8m ago
?
bigmacqween2 points8m ago
That’s not how it’s made
lilangrytiger0 points8m ago
Nonfat to the 300 line for a venti blend on dry foam. While your waiting for it to blend pour your shots into the cup foam to the top black line then ice
dovened0 points8m ago
I guess it depends on the barista. I’ve been a partner for three years now, so I just make it according to the old recipe; a standard iced latte with nonfat cold foam. But if you are a new partner, you technically aren’t required to know the recipe and can offer them something else.
ridiculouslyanxious0 points8m ago
An iced cappucino in my store are the shots with ice only, no milk, but the nonfat cold foam.
ridiculouslyanxious1 points8m ago
I know we don't technically offer anymore, but i have partners who have worked here when we did
sh3nan1gans_0 points8m ago
Shots, and then ice, nonfat cold foam
shipssiren0 points8m ago
"Unfortunately we no longer make iced cappuccinos. I could make an iced latte with cold foam or iced espresso with cold foam."
leeblissy0 points8m ago
I've only seen someone ask for this once, and another person working that day said they knew this regular and knew how to make the drink, so I should just put it through as asked. turn around and see they're making basically an iced latte, BUT they're also steaming milk. when the iced latte portion is done they take the bubbles at the top of the milk and simply put it on top of the latte and have me hand it out??? I was so baffled and I never saw this supposed "regular" again. this was at my store, the only one I've ever worked at.
boothbygraffoe0 points8m ago
“Sir/Mam, that’s just not how anything works.”
NothingToSeeFolks0 points8m ago
“Would you like an iced latte with cold foam?”
Normal_Human_4567-3 points8m ago
Ice in the cup. 150ml skinny milk in the cold foam blender on 4. 4 ice cubes in a steaming jug and pour the shots into that. Cold foam over ice, pour the shots on top.
neilgreenbreen5 points8m ago
Girl no…
transliorights0 points8m ago
This is how we're taught to make it in the UK and what it says on our recipe cards.
darkwolf5233 points8m ago
Steaming jug? But the proper way is espresso, milk to the second line, ice to the third and then cold foam.
