Why do assholes think it’s okay to joke about money?(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Affectionate_Fart
So I was finalizing the deposit bag number when this couple (guy and girl) walk up to the tils. My ringing barista was on bar (chitchatting) and I called out to her, when the dude looks at the bag and says “oh is that for me?” I give him a look and he replied “that deposit bag, I’ll take it.” I must have given him the bitchiest look as I coldly said no and rolled my eyes. I wish I would’ve taken it a step further and said “Are you threatening to take the bag…that sounds like ‘attempted robbery’. I’m gonna call the cops, they’re right next door, hold on!” It felt even creepier as he side eyed me as I was in kneeing and making change with the safe/tills. Super fucking uncomfortable, but sadly nothing I could do other than throw the depo bag into the safe and let my shift counterpart know :/ why are people fucking weird?

Customer: *points at the tip jar* “is that for me?” Me: “no that’s so I can eat this month.”

We've had a couple of occasions where customers have stolen our tip jars in drive thru. Our cameras are shit so we weren't able to do anything about it...

Honestly next time, ask if they’re threatening to rob you to make them back off. I’ve had people joke asking if tip jars were for them. It’s at best corny and unfunny, at worst worrisome. I have the worst social skills but even i know you don’t joke about someone else’s money.

Dude I kid you not. I more or less told my closer just to watch the dude because he gave off weird vibes. I don’t joke about money because it’s the one thing Starbucks will absolutely fire you for… I know he was “joking”, but honestly…there are some things you simply don’t joke about.

I get so nervous having to do any money stuff while we’re open for this reason. People are so weird and sketchy! Please just let me do my job!

Lol that stupid joke from ur customer reminds me of when customers come in to order a drink and our card reader or registers are acting up, some of the customers will joke "so i guess that means its free, harr har harr" 🙄 like u kno how many times ive heard that? Its not funny lol

Ok similar to this I one time had a customer in drive accidentally leave their card in the card reader and drive off after getting their stuff. The next people pull up and notice it at the same time I do. I flag down the guy in front who was clearly looking for his card he had left and the people who had pulled up begged for a cake pop since they were so nice and didn’t use his card. A car full of GROWN ASS WOMEN. They had to be close to 60 if not older. I was so shocked. Like no you don’t get a cake pop for doing what any human should do. People are literally the worst.

Lol jeez. Imagine begging for a free item for doing what u should be doing always. People just want free things nowadays. Of course everybody loves free things but i would never beg a place of business for a free item for doing what is expected of me as a human lol some people just always expect free stuff

I feel like Starbucks especially just has the most entitled clientele who think they’re owed shit for being decent human beings smh

Yea idk why our customer base is like that 😐

Shoutout to the preteen kid who grabbed our tip jar once and earned him and his friends extra scrutiny from me every day when they come in for their free waters ✌🏻
