I’m trying to help a coworker. Resources for leaving an abusive relationship? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by piratedashel
Are there resources available for partners that need to get out? Kids involved, so it’s a little sticky.

I’m not sure sbux has anything specific (i know the cup fund doesn’t typically cover housing-related costs but since this is DV I’d certainly ask anyways) but your best bet is to look specifically into your state/city resources.

Agreed. I am actually training to be an advocate (not through Starbucks) and I would definitely recommend looking up your local resources...and thehotline.org is also a great way to get immediate help. They even have a chat line. It's very important to come up with a safety plan....and don't tell the abuser of plans to leave, as leaving a domestic abuse situation is the most dangerous time.

There's nothing in the benefits pamphlet about getting out of abusive situations, but like the other person said try the CUP fund. There's also Care@Work if they need help finding someone to watch the kids, and there's Lyra and Headspace for their mental well-being. But nothing specifically to get them out of that situation :(
