Caught a virus. Just a virus. Beyond exhausted and my brain hurt. Called out three days. Yes. I called out each AM because I kept hoping I’d get better. Now I hear people were commenting about me being out. Me who covers their sick shift, stays late when they are running late and hasn’t had a sick day in a year. Place be toxic

Viruses suck as is you don’t need drama on top of it. Whoever is repeating things like this back to you is not very helpful. Were they very negative? Either way, your coworkers would be better off discussing managers who understaff, and not you being human and needing to rest. I hope you are feeling better soon.

People are going to talk no matter what you do. I hurt my back in November of 2013 and was off for 3 months. Every day somebody said I faked it, it wasn’t real etc. I brought in my MRI that showed two bulging discs and my cat scan that showed severe nerve damage and they still said I faked it so I wouldn’t have to work.

I don’t understand why anyone would think a person faked an injury so they don’t have to show up to work at starbuck. You can simply just stop coming, people are silly.

Oh it wasn’t even at Starbucks which is even worse 😅

I had a severe reaction to a new medication I was on and both of my feet swelled up so bad I couldn't feel them because it made my shoes too tight. I told my shift and he was like loosen your shoes but I can't lose you on the floor. I went home that afternoon and the next day my feet were back to normal until right before my one night shift so I called my SM to tell him i couldn't get my shoes on and i was super worried and wanted to go to the emergency room and he was like I need you to find coverage or find bigger shoes but i need someone here. I couldn't find coverage but my one partner told me to just tell him I'm not coming in because I was literally panicking. I'm glad I didn't go on and I went to the ER instead because I had a blood clot from the medication and could have had a stroke. Everyone said I faked it. I couldn't have faked swollen feet if I tried.

That's so negligent and selfish. I'm so glad you went and had it checked out

I have chronic sinus issues and had to call in a couple of times due to a flare up. One particular barista kept talking crap about me in front of my friend. Some people are jerks and there’s nothing you can do about it.
