time of request approved months ago and now denied less than a month from vacation (self.starbucksbaristas)

Okay, so back in May I put in a time off request for November 17th-20th for a trip. One other shift is also going with me, and he had submitted his request time off over a month ago. We were now told that we have to work Thursday because we're both shifts and it's red cup day, despite having it off in my case for months. Does anyone have any recommendations for what I should do?

Update: I sent a text to my SM about the fact that we'd been planning for 6 months and she basically said that because she didn't realize it was red cup day 6 months out were both okay to be off. So got the time, but pissed of the SM

If it was approved it shouldn’t be unapproved when they realized what day it’s on. I’d talk to your DM

Take the approved time off. What are they gonna do fire you? It was approved. Additionally, your manager acting like they absolutely need you on that Thursday can’t afford to lose two SSVs. Sounds like poor planning on manager’s part. Have fun on the trip!

So innocent, so pure. It’s the worst day of the year, even worse than holiday drink launch. Request that shit off.

It's the day when a free, plastic cup is given away with every holiday drink purchase. There's a holiday design on it, or it's in a holiday color. The guest gets the cup whether they order a seasonal frap or latte, or one of the holiday hot chocolates. If they bring the cup back, they get a small discount on future seasonal drinks until the end of the season.

Stores are given limited numbers of cups and guests go kind of nuts for them.

The red cup day and the holiday launch used to be the same day, but last year, they split the days because they had an issue getting the cups distributed to all the stores in time. That went so well that this year, they're splitting the days again. It gives them 2 days that people bumrush the store instead of just one.

I had a panic attack on the floor my first and only red cup day. I won't even think about Starbucks that week. Yall people are awful... over a cup.

I was told that we couldn’t request it off unless it was pre approved like OP’s situation

Honestly that’s your managers fault they didn’t realize it. You had it approved and I’d just tell her it’s not your problem. My SM tried to do the same thing to me and I said I’d either call out or not show up so it was on him to figure it out
