Hi. I’ve been a barista for a year now and one that’s mostly stationed on hot and cold bar. You’re first day they will have you doing video training on the tablets. You will learn everything there is to know about being a partner at Starbucks. I don’t remember all of the videos and courses but you do learn the recipes on the tablet before your co-workers teaches them to you. Once you finish your videos you should get on-hands training.

They’ll most likely teach you hot bar first. In my opinion hot bar is very fun to learn. Two things that might be challenging is the amount of pumps that the different sized drinks get and aerating the milk. Aeration is kinda complicated when it’s your first time. When I aerate the milk I lower my steaming pitcher until the steaming wand is just above the milk. You’ll know the milk is aerating right when you eat a light foaming sound, if it’s splashing milk everywhere then you should put the steaming wand back in the pitcher a little more. Next would be cold bar, now me personally I love cold bar but all my co-workers hate it lol. Cold bar usually has stickers with steps on how to prepare the drink. You’ll learn the warming station as well which is warming up our pre-made food items and sometimes making hot tea beverages and oatmeal.

You’ll also learn to prep things such as refreshers, teas, lemonade, whip cream, vanilla sweet cream, frap roast, mocha syrup and cold brew. You’ll learn how to brew fresh hot coffee and ice coffee. They teach you Customer support (CS) as well which is re-stocking things such as tea bags, hot and cold cups, hot and cold lids, milks in the fridges, ice, coffee stoppers, sleeves, inclusions, chargers (for the whip), stickers (for the food and drink orders), sugars, cutlery and syrups. If you have a drive thru it’ll be restocking sugars, bags, cup holders and straws.

After your training you’ll probably be placed on register and food warming most of the time and gradually moved over to hot and cold bar.
