Or just get sick at Starbucks for running such a bare bones shift that if one person is sick the whole crew is understaffed and stressed.

Pisses me off that it’s like this. There’s so many things going around and us all being extra stressed because someone is out sick doesn’t help keep our immune system running 100%.

This type of attitude is what makes people feel pressured to come in when they’re sick or just in general makes people feel like they need to prioritize work over everything, including their health and well-being. Certainly there’s a line that can be crossed when it comes to consistently calling out, but I think you should be more frustrated that your manager doesn’t staff properly (1 person calling out shouldn’t make or break the shift) or find coverage when people call out sick (it is, in fact, manager responsibility)

you’d think they’re actually sick huh

we all know that a good amount of time they’re not 🙃🙃🙃🙃

we assume the best in customers and believe them, why not believe and assume the best in your partners?

everyone knows there’s always 1 or 2 employees (at every job ever, not just starbucks) that really don’t want to be there and don’t care about their job. and it’s extremely frustrating

i get that but you also shouldn’t assume. because what if that person who doesn’t like working had an actual emergency?

I always thought and “on-call” partner would help with this situation.

Yes!! I was thinking this too, I get why it would be a pain to work and would require Starbucks to be for their employees. I guess also just not forcing SM’s into keeping barebones staff would help, but if there was a way to have a guaranteed on call person, it could in the long term prevent having too many people there at times when it’s not needed. Then also help on days when it is needed so we don’t keep running on this hamster wheel of not having enough staff, so we have customers leave/not come, so we don’t earn enough labor, so we continue to have barebones staff.

Honestly I can’t even be mad at them tbh this job sucks and it sucks that the shift is going to be more stressful but it is what it is and at the end of the day this job is a means to a end for me and I do the best that I can do within my limits . I’m not stressing myself out over shit that’s not in my control.

Bad take.

Transfer to another store. If the manager can’t hold anyone accountable, they need to start feeling the repercussions for themselves. Esp with how hard it is to find
new employees now.

Also, usually when you transfer there’s an exit-meeting and you’ll get to give the manager some feedback. You’re angry at the manager, not at the partner. Manager isn’t holding people accountable, coming in to fill the gaps, or scheduling extra coverage.
