Food Safety hairstyles for beanies?(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by externaluvulas
Hello fellow baristas, so I’ve resorted to wearing a slouchy beanie at work, as our hats don’t fit my head. However, I typically put my hair up in a bun under the hat for food safety. This has caused my forehead to be extremely exposed, with no hair showing. I feel like I look like an egg head. I’m a trans girl and it gives me massive gender dysphoria and brings in even more misgendering (despite the pin….)
My question is, can anyone provide any tips for showing some of my hair so my head/hat don’t look so “masculine”?
Thanks 😥

If your hair is long enough low space buns are always cute, and if you have bangs or any face framing pieces that are an appropriate length, those will help too.

Pigtail braids are my go-to.

Seconding pigtail braids! Even if you can’t French braid, or if your hair is pretty short, 2 braids are pretty do-able. If you have short/fine hair, get hair elastics from Amazon (or anywhere else really - I got a pack of like 10,000 for $6). Colorful hair ties are fun, especially with the holidays coming up!

Bobbie pin the hat to your head, it'll stay further back from your forehead & stay on all day :)

when i was still fem presenting and would wear hats id pull out my bangs and also the hair like , right near my ears !! both pieces of hair are short enough that it doesn’t need to be pulled back , but i also live in a place that doesn’t require us to wear hats

Braids and low buns are going to be your best friend

A few women I work with do the Spinelli from Reccess hair style under their hats. It's so cute and I'm so jealous.

Swoop and pin some hair down over forehead in a pin-up style !

I like to braid my hair into pigtail braids and then tie them upwards into kind of loops?

I’ve seen $1 that are like beanies but have a hole for a ponytail. Dunno if it’d be your vibe but you could do one of those so that at least lomg hair is visible

I'd say long curtain bangs or at least framing pieces that are shorter (like not past your chin - that's when hair has to be secured in some way) that you can pull out of your beanie! I also have a really big forehead, and so my go-to hairstyle for work is bangs with pigtail braids, though I don't have to wear a hat where my store was.
