What is the official call out policy? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by caspi3
Can someone explain to a t what the official call out policy is? I have a kidney infection and the meds I was put on gave me bad side effects but I was told I can only stay home if I have symptoms that are on the partner symptom check? Is this true? My manager also told me I had to call the keyholder of the shift I work to call out if the store phone isn’t working (idk who it is because I haven’t shown up yet) and that I shouldn’t call the manager to call out if the phone is broken. Is this true?

If you are not well you are not well. You can call out sick. It doesn't matter if you are contagious. They can't prove what kind of sick you are....
Also, you are supposed to call the store but if the phone is broken and you also don't have the shifts number then you would Definitely call the manager. But, try to get everyone's numbers so you can just call whatever shift is in.

My last manager never wanted to be bothered with anything so I quickly realized I need to just communicate with shifts if I'm sick and the phone isn't working.

If you’re sick in any way that impacts your ability to work/working would worsen your symptoms, you should call out. You have to call the store, and if that doesn’t work then call the shift on duty. You also do not have to tell them the exact reason you’re calling out, just that you’re sick. You also don’t have to look for coverage if you’re sick.
