Someone grabbed his hot coffee from me so roughly it spilled on my hand(self.starbucksbaristas)

Of course he didn’t apologize, I love it so much here. It wasn’t a bad burn but ffs.

it's against policy technically but any time i hand a brewed coffee/tea/americano out the window i put a stopper in it unless it's a regular who i know won't do that 🤷 it's happened too many times
on front/handoff planes i just always put the drink down for them to pick up themselves, even if they have their hand out to take it. if they say anything it's easy to say it's for sanitary reasons or because "i'm so clumsy i don't trust myself to not drop it"
i'm sorry that happened to you today though. customers being rude and expecting us to worship them is incredibly demoralizing

We’re out of stoppers I love it here so much

They were discontinued for plastic waste :/

excuse me what
gabby246811 points8m ago
Yeah we been using the delivery stickers 😶
mama_bibi1 points8m ago
There are little circle stickers that your manager can purchase. We use these instead of stoppers anyway

Even with a stopper if the cup is just bad and you don’t realize it. Then the customer grabs it wrong you both are getting splashed I had it happen a couple times. Now I check every cup for being bad lol

my store always puts stoppers in our hot drinks when we hand it to customers through the drive though

I never give people there coffee directly, always put it far from them and slide it to them. No matter it's hot or cold.

This is actually the standard for in cafe interactions, but it’s often not really an option in the drive thru.

oh, my store don't have a DT. and WTF is all those downvotes for, I am so sad
astivana [OP]4 points8m ago
No one pulls up close enough in drive thru for that tbh

We put drinks on a tray and hold that out the window, it allows extra reach if they don't pull I enough, and stops customers from touching your hands when grabbing the drinks...etc

I’m sorry

I would loudly said ow! And just stared at them like ugh that's so messed up :( I'm sorry that happened to you. Sometimes when I hand off hot drinks people are so impatient to wait the second I'm about to set it down and end up touching my hand...I cringe soooo hard that I wash my hands immediately after 😓 next time don't be afraid to make even a "woahhh ok" (it slips for me 'cause I honestly get shocked/startled) or not it's up to you & how you want to handle situations like these :3 'Cause yeah some people do grab items unnecessarily rough 😕
