I might get fired, partially because I was sick (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Mr-Yoop
Last week I couldn’t work because I had a nasty cold. Today I was supposed to work but my pants were the wrong color so they sent me home. I thought I’d have time to change after school, so that part is on me. But the sick thing seems weird. My paid sick time only covered 1/3 of my 12 hours last week, but is it really fair that I have to make up an extra two shifts after getting sick and not being able to work?

You have to maintain a rolling average of 12 hours/week per quarter. If you only work 12 hours a week and you missed 8 hours that weren’t covered with sick time, you’ll be below that at the end of the quarter. It’s not your manager’s requirement, it’s a corporate policy that came into effect this month to make sure everyone gets a minimum of 12 hours.
