I just started training this week. I work another part time job but wanted to work at Starbucks for the benefits, specifically the SCAP. I have a background in hospitality and very little food service experience.
I interviewed back in August but was finally onboarded last week. From the very first phone call with my ASM I got really good vibes, my boyfriend is a former partner and subbed in at the store I work at now and only had good things to say about the location.
My trainer is spectacular. She’s been with the company for 11yrs and has been thorough and informative, while keeping it lighthearted and fun. Our store manager is wonderful and very direct, but in no way power trippy.
And the store itself- gorgeous. The largest Starbucks I’ve ever been in. It’s fairly new and they always have good music playing. I was pleasantly surprised when I met all my new coworkers at the holiday meeting. At jobs I’ve worked at in the past I’ll have one or two really cool, outgoing coworkers but at this store, every single person struck me as approachable and friendly.
I offered to stay a little past my scheduled time today and got to practice on cold bar, definitely asked at least a hundred questions but my coworkers were insanely supportive and I feel like I’ve learned so much. I obviously have a long ways to go til I’m confident but I feel like I lucked out at this location.
Just wanted to share my positive experience with you all as I know this sub has seen plenty of new hire horror stories.
