please don’t report someone for faking covid, it’s none of your business nor do you need to take the action of taking it to higher ups it’ll only get messy
But on the other hand yes please do something about the sexual harassment tbh
Traditional-Emu-14030 points8m ago
Since bro blocked me.. I am, that’s why I’m leaving in a few weeks. Cry about it.

He really did the drop a sassy comment and block 😂
Enkeria92-28 points8m ago
So what you’re saying is they shouldn’t report someone for literal fraud? Ok buddy.
Traditional-Emu-140335 points8m ago
Dude we make $8 drinks for a company that underpays us. It’s not that deep.
Enkeria92-1 points8m ago
Shift supervisors make more than I do on an hourly basis and I’m salaried where I work. Starbucks starts at $15, right? Dunkin starts at $13. I made $18.44 before I quit Starbucks. I average $15.17/hour being salaried.
Traditional-Emu-14030 points8m ago
And that’s underpaid. I can go make $22 as a bank teller without a degree and that doesn’t involve getting messy or scrubbing. $15 is the new minimum wage.
pastelldillann29 points8m ago
Fraud? We work at a fucking Starbucks man. Lighten up a bit.

Enkeria92-3 points8m ago
I used to work for Starbucks “man.” I’m a SM at another company. If I found out two of my employees were faking COVID, they’d be fired.
pastelldillann2 points8m ago
Congrats you’re a shit boss who digs too deeply into your employee’s personal lives.
Comfortable-Plane94492 points8m ago
I mean faking being sick isn’t really any of your business. Let them be on that one. But i would say something about how they’re treating other coworkers

Enkeria92-30 points8m ago
Faking COVID just to get a week off is fraud and a fireable offense.
booboobradley31 points8m ago
Charging 8 dollars for a coffee is fraud
Enkeria921 points8m ago
No; inflation is fraud. We deal with it too at Dunkin.
Levinem71716 points8m ago
Pumping out drink after drink for minimum wage is fraud.
Enkeria920 points8m ago
Federal minimum wage is $7.50/hour. Minimum wage varies state by state. Not sure where you live, but $15 isn’t minimum where I live. If you don’t like the pay, ask for a raise or go work for Amazon.
Levinem7170 points8m ago
Sorry but this is fluff words. I couldn’t care less how some states pay like absolutely Ass, it’s all still fraud how little Starbucks pays its employees.
Comfortable-Plane9440 points8m ago
What I said is that’s no that persons business
Enkeria92-1 points8m ago
It made it OP’s business when those two confided in OP about faking it.
lewabwee18 points8m ago
Did you bring up the way they talk about women with them? Or even how them calling out screwed you over? I’ve dealt with both of these issues before personally just by taking to the people themselves. I’m not gonna lie and say it’ll always work itself out that way but you should talk to them first and escalate it up as a last resort.
In any case, if you’re the only one they’re confiding in on these issues they’re gonna know it was you. You’ll either have to report it and live with the consequences or not report it and live with those consequences. I don’t see a situation wherein they don’t realize it was you though.
Babycakes_9916 points8m ago
I know you don’t want to hear this but you should REALLY mind your business. Say you report them for faking Covid… okay so what’s next? They launch an investigation and they don’t find any proof of wrongdoing. They’ll continue to work there and you’ll look like a dumbass and then you’ll eventually quit because the work environment is toxic. I know you think you’re doing the right thing but the world doesn’t work like that. You’ll probably end up screwing yourself over unnecessarily. Been there done that!
trbpanda13 points8m ago
the only important thing here is the sexual harassment. definitely talk to a manager about that.
i get that it sucks that you guys were extra busy without those two people, it can be really annoying when you know there's no actual reason behind their calling out too. but in the end, you will be fine, your store will be fine, and the customers who have to wait a little longer will be fine.
yes, your coworkers lied about being sick and that's not very cool of them, but in the end it doesn't matter. they're not getting any special isolation pay. if they're getting paid, they're using their own sick time. also starbucks is no longer doing hazard pay / isolation time so even if someone was "exposed" by working with them, they're not required to isolate.
if you want to report them, fine, but your claims will go nowhere because you have no proof. also your manager (and the company itself) will not care. even if they did, there's nothing they can do about it. therefore, let that shit go man.
as a shift who has 90 accumulated sick hours and barely any time off, i'd probably lie too to get some PTO honestly.
booboobradley10 points8m ago
Don’t rat, cuh.
Traditional-Emu-14037 points8m ago
It’s not your place. You were fine with them commenting on your female coworkers until now apparently. Don’t be a narc, not only will you lose any comfort at work but also at home. Just mind your own business, distance yourself as friends.
elz-belles4 points8m ago
Pondering this. The Covid comment seemed so arbitrary to bring up whenever they’re apparently doing something legitimately vile, which somehow got tacked on AFTER like faking Covid is…worse? Sure… okay 🧐 Anyway OP you have a social responsibility to report sexual harassment of MINORS as quickly and loudly as possible. Bringing up them faking Covid seems weird, petty, and fake, like somehow you were doing something bad WITH them and you’re looking for any reason to discredit THEM…
Any_Target53077 points8m ago
The Covid thing is not that deep (to me). We work an underpaid position at a glorified major company. Maybe ask yourself why they’d stoop that low for 5 days of pay. Genuinely. It’s not morally right but we all do what we have to do and faking sick normally doesn’t include paid time off. I would absolutely discuss the conversations about women with management and let them know you’re uncomfortable with that. I understand your feelings on the Covid thing but I genuinely wouldn’t let that bother me like that, we deserve to be paid more. I understand the thought process on why they did it.
GoodJibblyWibbly7 points8m ago
Y’all are wild covid might not scare you if you’re generally healthy, vaccinated, insured, and able-bodied, but MANY partners don’t have the luxury of meeting every single one of those criteria. Many partners could easily be terrified for their own well being if they believed they were exposed to covid because they think a coworker had it. This is just causing stress both at work and personally all for one person to get time off. Selfish. And you say one is a shift? Even worse. People keep saying you might get people fired for this but like, you do things like that that can get you fired, fine. You earned it.
If you do petty stuff like steal pastries or whatever go for it. Like please do it I’m not gonna stop you, I didn’t see a thing. This is a little less clear than that
My only issue, OP, is that I doubt Sbux HR will handle this the way you want and repercussions will probably be easily traced back to you unless they mess up and tip off an SM or something themselves. No good options here but for your own self-preservation unfortunately I might say keep it to yourself, unless you can verify that they’re telling the rest of the store and you’re a good enough actor to feel bad for them when they start complaining about it to you.
vanilllacakez4 points8m ago
Tbh I would just report them for the women comments, the faking covid thing definitely makes you a snitch, doesn’t make it right but it’s not your business and if you left tomorrow Starbucks doesn’t give care bc your replaceable. Not to mention they ended covid pay not to long ago no? But I don’t think it’s right for them to be speaking about your coworkers that way, so definitely talk to management. Overall I would hate to work with someone who felt the need to report things that aren’t their business unless it caused REAL harm.
spookstermcdude2 points8m ago
about them faking covid: mind your own business. starbucks can afford it. maybe they needed a break, like we all do. keep it to yourself. seriously.
about them making disgusting comments about your coworkers: not good. if you do find them to be disparaging to post about it here, my personal first action would be to talk directly with them about that. if they're your friends, maybe theyll hear you out. if youve tried this already, or if youre certain it wouldn't work, then I would go to your manager or partner resources about it. making sexual comments about people while at work is unacceptable.
Sea_Ad_74242 points8m ago
If I were in your shoes, I wouldn’t bring up the Covid stuff. It’s just gonna get messy. But I would absolutely report *any* inappropriate sexual remarks/harassment about coworkers. That’s something that can easily get worse for the women there if your friends aren’t put in their place.
What they did Covid wise is a really shitty move and I understand it’s frustrating when that leaves your team understaffed and overworked while these guys get a paid vacation, and I understand it’s even more infuriating that they’re in an SSV role and they’re abusing their power.
At the end of the day, put yourself first. Do what feels right to you. And honestly, I would consider transferring stores because it doesn’t sound too great over there (if this is an option).
TripleV4202 points8m ago
Since you know them, why not talk to them about it? Are they talking about them at work or off the clock (asking because most places don’t care if it’s off the clock unfortunately)
If you really feel strongly about it, I’d report the way they talk about women to your manager, but wouldn’t say anything about the COVID thing. But also be prepared for them to know it was you and that they might make your life a living hell at work. Pick and choose your battles carefully.
dnims24-6 points8m ago
I disagree with the other commenters about the sick thing. There’s faking sick but I feel like faking covid sick is a whole different thing. Because of that one partner other people might have to take off involuntarily since they “could have been exposed to covid” even though the original is just faking. Also this feels like they’re invalidating all the people that have actually had covid and possibly died. I think you should bring it up to your manager but ask to be anonymous. There’s really no way to tell if they actually have covid or not without doing a test but faking it is just wrong in my opinion
RosieHarlan25 points8m ago
That’s not how it works anymore. You only have to involuntarily take off if you test positive.
It’s an odd moral line to draw the line at faking COVID specifically when faking sick. A lot of People have died of food poisoning and flus.
It’s a very bad idea to tell the manager that a coworker faked COVID because they have no proof and it’ll just look like they are baselessly accusing someone of wrongdoing and nothing will come of it.
sheep_heavenly3 points8m ago
There's no way to tell if someone is regular sick either. how does OP "know" they faked it?
Nobody gets paid COVID isolation now, not do they get involuntary time off unless they test positive. While it's not cool to fake illness that is still actively impacting many of us today it's no different than the flu or a sinus infection in terms of time off.
ScheduleEfficient515-3 points8m ago
They told me they faked the positive test and I was with them the day they called out "sick"

So much for asking for help. No need to be rude. Faking COVID means you get paid for the time you have to isolate, which is fraud. Not to mention one of them is a shift lead. Them faking it only put a enormous amount of stress on the rest of the team seeing that we were down 2 people for about a week. And its absolutely nasty to speak about your girl co workers in that way. Especially when some of them are underage.
imhereforthegossip8917 points8m ago
That money they are getting paid is not coming out of your paycheck. Starbucks has made billions off employees so I think they will survive. There won’t be any bankruptcy there. I guarantee you Starbucks won’t thank you, give you a prize, raise your salary, or pay for extra vacation for white knighting them.
As for the short staffing, that’s in Starbucks too. If you only put enough people to run the shift without spares in case someone gets sick, that’s on you as a company. Starbucks is cheaping out in stores by cutting hours for their own profit margins. If all shifts were properly staffed, a partner down would not have been an issue.
The only issue you should concern yourself with, as everybody said, is the sexual harassment. That is something that would actually affect a coworker, not a billion dollar company.
ScheduleEfficient515-10 points8m ago
I don't want a raise or a high five for reporting them. I do not care about the isolation pay they got either. But as a shift lead or a barista, it is your job to come into work. And faking COVID and putting that heavy load on everyone else for a week (plus we're the 3rd busiest store in the district) is a complete asshole move.

Well damn lol most partners here be a little extra saying it’s non of your business and keep your mouth shut that’s a little overboard. Well in my opinion I would agree with with what they say here but word it a lot different basically just let that prick be about his COVID charade but definitely would say something about his comments that’s for sure sexual harassment as a gentleman that’s really disgusting behavior and even worse that he is an SSV he definitely doesn’t deserve to be there talk to your SM or you could always rely on the anonymous report
