I thought it was pretty standard that there are LAWS protecting everyone who is an employee at any company from people who like to make them work for free. But I guess that’s not common knowledge. So I’m going to say this, if you are working for SBUX and your shift/mgr makes you clock out and keep working, YOU REPORT THEM. It’s ILLEGAL. Your bosses don’t work for free and neither should we. I’m disgusted that at a worldwide brand there are people who make workers work off the clock. I won’t say where this location is, but if you work at one and they’re making you clock out and stay on the floor working, you have every right to walk out and go home. Once you clock out, you’re not an employee. You’re a regular person who has other shit to do, you go do them. If your boss/superior tries to make you stay, tell them to f* off (politely) and if they persist, you report them to whoever will listen to you.

this!! same goes for if they’re expecting you to show up 15 minutes early but won’t let you clock in until your start time. they have no right to tell you what to do with your time unless you are on the clock

yeah most say they require you to be 5 mins early. That means you can clock in up to 5 minutes early too.

Stolen time is rampant at Starbucks.
Stolen mileage as well - not true reimbursement if you go from him to another store (to grab stuff) then to your store
Only reimburse for store to store and not the extra miles you did to the other store.

It’s always been really bad. The Siren steals so much in wage theft they were TWO class actions I was a party to and got wages back over things like not getting breaks.

I expect that from small businesses/self employed personnel type companies. You know, under-the-table type employees. But from SBUX? Nah. That’s some BS. And the fact that the people this is happening to don’t say anything just goes to show how little our partners know of the power they hold in the company. You don’t need to be a manager or a shift to use the protection of US Labor Laws. You are REQUIRED as an employer to pay your employees for every second they work. If you’re having issues with time, that’s your problem not the regular employees. Don’t steal time from the baristas who already make barely enough to make a living. We work our asses off to make the company run. We deal with bs from customers all the time and the last thing we need is our bosses shafting us too. Like I said, don’t put up with it because you don’t have to. I feel like SBUX should have some type of training pertaining to stealing time from employees and for regular partners to know how they can advocate for themselves if they feel threatened for not clocking out and staying on the floor.

Someone got fired at our store for asking people to do that lol. It’s actually taken seriously if you report it to ethics.

Check your hours too - my manager was changing clock in times for a while before she got caught. Take pics then compare on the website before payday
