moldyhotpocket40 points8m ago
i didnt even know the level of our scoops was a standard thing jfc
Dustwitch9334 points8m ago
Rounded bc the drinks are stupid expensive and people who like matcha want matcha flavor, not just green milk
nicolelynnejones [OP]11 points8m ago
idk if i’ve become too tolerant of the matcha flavor or if they diluted it but i’ve been needing like, 6 or 7 scoops in a venti iced
Dustwitch9311 points8m ago
I'm like 90% sure they've added more sugar and reduced the amount of tea in the past 3-4 years bc hard same. I used to give regulars an extra scoop sometimes tbh and they'd always grin when I did lol
Perfect-Leadership5810 points8m ago
starbucks matcha just isn’t very matchay /:
nicolelynnejones [OP]6 points8m ago
thank you ryan

ofc my child
Candid_Efficiency1432 points8m ago
I just learned that a venti matcha does not standardly get 6 scoops of matcha 🤣🤣 oops
nicolelynnejones [OP]2 points8m ago
it tastes better that way anyway 😂😂
tree_sah26 points8m ago
Levelled scoops for matcha (and slightly rounded for vanilla bean); although I don't know if the recipe cards still say that, but they did when I first started years ago
nicolelynnejones [OP]23 points8m ago
The recipe card just says “small scoop of matcha” but I swear it was rounded. Maybe it was rounded way back when? Or maybe I’m thinking of vanilla bean?
dirtychai021815 points8m ago
i definitely remember matcha being rounded scoops, like i just did a skill check on someone and i think it said rounded scoops
tree_sah7 points8m ago
Oh damn, I'll have to check out the cards again. Back when we had rooibos and black tea powder, our store was adamant on all powders being levelled scoop
dirtychai021810 points8m ago
they change the standards every time i sneeze it feels like, we can’t keep up anymore 🥲
tree_sah7 points8m ago
Vanilla bean used to say slightly rounded back in the day but I don't think it says it on the recipe cards anymore; matcha is levelled though and pretty sure always have been, at least since I started. I remember my store had to go over the standards for scooping tea powder back when we had rooibos and black tea powder because inconsistencies, so it's always stuck with me
hollsberry5 points8m ago
Unless they changed it, it was rounded scoops when I was hired 4 years ago.
ketchupsnumberonefan16 points8m ago
At our store we just scoop, so I guess rounded?
mossygreentree1313 points8m ago
slightly rounded for all scoops of powders (vanilla bean, malt AND matcha)
dazedandconfusedhere9 points8m ago
Frappuccinos always get slightly rounded scoops of whatever it is, per the beverage resource manual
With this rule, I do slightly rounded scoops unless the recipe card states otherwise (such as with the chocolate cream cold brew, which specifies level scoops of malt powder)
dallizzlee5 points8m ago
Depends on how fast I’m going 😂
verdeuce5 points8m ago
Depends on which scoop you’re using. Are you using the old metal scoops that go with the tan dry inclusion holders or the new metal/black scoops that come with the clear round jars and with the black lids (they’re called market jars)
VibraniumQueen2 points8m ago
My store has the metal scoops with tan dry inclusion holders
Brgnbo5 points8m ago
Usually rounded but if I have the time I like to kinda shake it level so it’s a little rounded but not HEAPING you know
Traditional-Emu-14034 points8m ago
Rounded. It’s overpriced tea powder cut with sugar… but if you’re rude I flat scoop.
inkoowoo4 points8m ago
it depends on what cold bar scoops you have! If you have the old ones that are just plain metal, i think it’s a rounded scoop, but i do know for sure that if it’s the new cold bar scoop with the black handle the standard is a level scoop
hauxbi4 points8m ago
It’s the flat levelled scoop. It should be labeled and should say “Matcha” and the size at the very end of it. It’s not the same scoop we use for the vanilla bean. It used to be, and then starbucks changed it a few years ago and that’s what we use now. We used to have Rooibos tea and Black tea in powder form and we had a different set of leveled flat scoops for those powder teas, so it’s the same for the powder matcha.
56peas8 points8m ago
😬 my store is still just using the same as vanilla bean. is it a bigger scoop?
dahmerpalms4 points8m ago
The vanilla bean scoop is much bigger than matcha spoon
-Zispy1 points8m ago
really? we only have two sizes of spoons. Small for matcha, vanilla bean, java chips, and malt. From what I thought, everything is a level scoop
mxs42357 points8m ago
I think rooibos and black micro tea was a Canadian thing. The matcha scoop is 2.7ml and the other teas were 2.1 ml.
hauxbi3 points8m ago
Yes thats what i was trying to say! But they are specific spoons for the powder teas, the vanilla bean powder spoon should not be used for the matcha
kimememememe3 points8m ago
Th…there are different size powder spoons?? We use the same size scoops for vanilla bean, matcha, Java chips, and chocolate malt
hauxbi2 points8m ago
I’m in Canada so this might be different, the java chip and vanilla bean spoons are the same and the matcha is a different specific spoon for the matcha only. We don’t have malt powder in Canada tho!
-Zispy2 points8m ago
oh, this might be because in Canada you guys have different matcha. In US we have cheap matcha mixed with sugar.
MagazineAware30123 points8m ago
“Slightly mounded” I remember reading this for all powders
hollsberry3 points8m ago
Standard is rounded or heaping
nicolelynnejones [OP]2 points8m ago
where can i find that info?
Muted_Obligation45013 points8m ago
It depends on the scoops you have I believe, we do leveled scoops with our silver and black spoons
Few-Drop61983 points8m ago
been doing it flat for forever until i recently got updated that standard is indeed slightly rounded
nicolelynnejones [OP]3 points8m ago
where can i find that info?
hollsberry3 points8m ago
I just closed but I think it’s in the beverage guidance section on the hub.
nicolelynnejones [OP]4 points8m ago
i open tomorrow so i’ll check in uhhhh *checks clock* 4 hours
Inevitable_Emu_2213 points8m ago
Slightly rounded is standard?
Electrical_Metal_1063 points8m ago
Well poop, I thought it was rounded but now I have no idea. They get what they get, I guess lol!
BenTeHen2 points8m ago
For powders I always go flat.
Velvet35352 points8m ago
Flat
thechamelioncircuit2 points8m ago
Flat
KJ2998SJ1 points8m ago
Flat because then it's consistent.
Vegan_Sweetie1 points8m ago
Flat
Different-Meat-18301 points8m ago
Flat and leveled. Standard and consistency.
If they notice it’s not strong enough they’ll know for next time to order ___ extra scoops of matcha
No stores or baristas will get compared to and be told that “that barista/store always makes my drink wrong”
VibraniumQueen1 points8m ago
Leveled for everything except Java chips at my store
