Gotten an influx of people who have been requesting extra hot @ 190? I need to figure out where the actual policy for drink temps is because back in the day it was MAX temp of 180*…I don’t know if it has changed but this woman got super nasty when I told her “the machine goes to 171 for extra hot. If I take it above that temp it’s a burn risk for my baristas” then she tried to argue and I literally shut it down saying “I’m not letting my baristas get burnt for you. Just because the machine CAN, does not mean it will.” I can appreciate if you want to burn your tongue but my baristas also have the mug cleaner that you have to press your hand down on the mug to operate.

Max temp has been 190 for as long as I’ve been around.

We have a regular who always gets a chait at 190. I don't know if it's a rule, but my store always does it for her

The beverage resource manual has the max but it is either 190 or 195

I tell them I can only do 180 because thats when it starts to spit at us. Luckily my customers where ok with that. Although back when our steam wand didn't work very well we could do 190 before it spit at us.

I found out the temp max was “195”from beverage resources but it didn’t really specify. It said milk is steamed between 160-170, but that milk should never be steamed higher than 195…but also feel that if you have to go into manual mode, you probably shouldn’t be doing it anyways… :/ I think I’ll leave it to the partner on bar because ultimately it’s up to them? Eh it’s just a grey area sadly

Back in my day, 190 just meant get it as hot as you can. No one carries a thermometer, most of the time if you tell them it is super hot they just go.
Also most of the time if you get it to 190 that is all it will do before it kind of blows up, so there is that as well.

I’ve gotten it to 205 before lol But I’ve always been informed that 180 was the “max” at my original store…and beverage resource that was online is saying it is “160-170” for beverages, so imma have to do more research.

It takes experience to get it to 190 without it blowing up on you, so if you can get it to 205 I'd take pride in that actually. But yeah I can get it to 190-195 if I'm paying attention but I generally stop at 185 for customers. And that is if they ask and it is mobile, because most of the time it'll sit there a minute before they show up.
