Opening up a huge can of worms by doing this.

How so?

You’re setting the precedent that you’ll break policy if a customer wants you to. That’s a slippery slope

they aren’t encouraging breaking standard. they’re simply saying for the ones that do: you could say this. so that other stores don’t have to deal with “but the other starbucks will”. *if* your store does anything off standard, at least let the crusty know they are going against standard and may not continue every time.

I really want to believe this would work, but if you’ve worked at sbux for longer than a couple weeks you don’t need me to tell you how observant and reasonable our customer base is.

But people are already doing it en masse, causing other stores to be the 'bad guy' when they try to uphold standard. So doing nothing isn't going to help, but at least letting customers know and feel 'special' might help curb expectations a bit.

I guess I disagree. If they want to have it the way “ the other starbucks” does it for them they can go to the other starbucks. Breaking policy makes life harder and more confusing for me and my team and frankly I don’t care about customer satisfaction enough to make our job any more annoying than it already is. Maybe i’m just jaded and bitter tho 😔
