How to tell your shift they suck? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by cvpocoffee
So, how do you tell your shift they’re shit in the politest way possible of course!

The shift supervisor in question prior to their promotion used to be excellent. They had the initiative to step up when it’s peak and give support all around, but ever since they got promoted it has lessen and currently, it just feels like they have given up. Breaks are late even though they constantly peer on the schedule, no sense of awareness of what the floor needs, and couldn’t form a decision one time when they’re supposed to be in charge.

One partner approached them if they are doing ok cause clearly she’s mentally not on the job, and she has expressed that they haven’t been sleeping well cause of playing online.. It kinda baffles me and I wanna give feedback but in a way that they would not be offended haha

How long has it been since this shift was promoted? If they’re relatively new, they might appreciate the feedback and maybe cut them some slack.

Being a shift is a lot different than being a barista. Shifts need to worry about the team on top of their additional duties and as a barista you can get away with worrying just about yourself if you know your stuff.

If they’ve been shift a while and they still suck, you can start by telling them your specific struggles/concerns during a shift with them. Ask them to keep it in mind for next time. And you can always escalate to your manager if they clearly don’t listen.

Hope you figure it out!
